Ive been thinking about going down there to check out the tour... how about a local group get together after hours there ?! Can it be done ????

Yeah, we have a liveaboard program where you spend the night onboard. If everyone wants to get together and set something up, that would be easily doable. That's my department

Okay, well, I spent Saturday night quite productively exploring a number of places that are off limits, including one place that is very very off limits.

May I present you with the gyro room, and the massive clusterfuck that is the desalinization plant and ac generator area.

Oh, and in regard to ghosts, I found a place to sleep that is 99% ghost free. You can hear people washing dishes in the scullery all night though, it's rather disconcerting...

Gyro room :

AC Generator / Desalinization plant / what I think is the ass end of one of the boilers :

So Much Asbestos in that thing. I remember going there when I was probably about 7 or 8 for a class field trip, getting turned around and winding up somewhere I wasn't supposed to be, completely cut off from everyone else. I yelled and yelled until some guy with a nasty mustache grabbed me and took me back to my classmates.

Actually since driving past, now I'm sort of interested in seeing the inside. What is the day tour like? As in, how much of the good stuff is off limits?

Ah yes, the good ol Hornet. It never fails for a good time of running around and going places you shouldn't.

LOL

Here are a few pics I took a few years back.
