Oh yeah and something else:

No one has really answered the question-

4) What food are we bringing/preparing for the weekend, and what complete meals should we make for the group (not hard or sophisticated)? Drinks will be your own responsibility.

Has anyone planned for this? Or is everyone just going to bring their own separate stuff?

Also...am I the only person who doesn't own (and therefore probably isn't bringing) a bike? :B

Okay, so we have Monday and Tuesday available. I can do both. I can even reserve Monday night, and we can meet up there early monday morning. I may even go earlier and be there Sunday evening into monday if anyone wants to join and have a three-day trip with me. We'll leave on our own time on Tuesday before the last ferry leaves.

Food: It's really easy. Hotdogs, Mac & cheese, Grilled Cheese, hamburgers, pancakes, chips, sodas and water, etc... Dessert is also easy. If anyone enjoys Oranges, we can have Orange cupcakes that I make when I go camping.

People: So far we have 5-6 people. Maybe more as there are those not aware of this thread that would like to join. Should we wait til after haloween and have Dave join us as well in Nov?

Cost: I'm trying to keep the cost down as much as possible. There are two ferries that go to AI. One from Tiburon and the other from SF. The Tiburon ferry is farther to drive to, but cheaper. Weigh them out. Camping is only $15/night -- easy to pay.

I'll be more than happy to supply the campsite with supplies and pay for a site, but others will have to provide food and other needs for the days, as I'm short on $$ (unemployed).

Date: We'll also need to pick a date. I'm thinking Oct 28-30 is best for all. Unless we push it up one week to Nov 4-6 for others who can't make it the previous.

If you have hoards of camping experience and would like to help coordinate this with me, please PM me.

We should commit to a date in November. It looks like Monday is the consensus. I know some people can't make it, but if we don't make the reservation soon, we'll miss out on the op.

I'm out of town this weekend, but if someone wants to make a reservation for a camp spot some monday in November, let's do this, otherwise it probably won't happen.

If not AI, we can do some in the south bay. A thought...

I'm broke (unemployed and looking). No $$ to spend for the camping, but am fully able to supply the camp with cookware, stoves, and lanterns for the days there. I'm also able to provide carpool from the south bay areas if people need a ride.

With that said, I'll pass this onto someone else to reserve the sites. If no one reserves a site on AI for the proposed dates, I am planning a small campout in the late fall/winter season in the south bay for two days and hit up some unseen or past sites down here.

Without going into details, I can tell you all without a doubt that MONDAYS are the best days for you guys to explore Angel Island. I probably can't camp out overnight (two dogs of my own at home, plus two foster dogs right now...) but if I can take a Monday off work I can probably get you all inside the Nike magazines (though there's nothing too exciting in there), and show you something very old & very well-hidden that I think you'd all enjoy seeing & photographing, as well as give a half-way decent, unofficial 'enterpretation' of the old military structures.

Though it's probably not so bad this time of year, Angel Island gets pretty crazy on the weekends with swarms of locals & tourists, but is pretty much a ghost-town on weekdays.

I've never heard the bit about Marin County Sheriff Dept. responding to the island on nighttime police runs (a very small part of the island is actually SF property), but it is true that there's not always a California State Parks LE Ranger there.

It doesn't take too long to walk the main road that circles the island, but it'd be nice if everyone had a bike with them, especially if it's just a day visit. Problem would be ditching the bikes/bike security when inside some places, but that may be a task I'll volunteer for.

The view from the top of Mt Livermore is beautiful, but unless you're a hard-core Nike missile site afficionado (Nike site SF-91C was up there. All that's left are a couple of the RADAR pads & a guard shack) it's not really worth the hike if you're there to UE.

I do!!! I scrolled down and saw the same thing. I can go anytime, for sure!!!!! Seems a nice way to meet up with people. I've been looking for a partner since I'm female. Kinda makes me not want to go places by myself, if you can understand that. Not all guys are nice to you ;)
