Do some people not understand your urge to "explore"?

I'm sort of new to this whole urban exploration thing, and as such the people in my life are new to my urge to go exploring...which happens often.

So, I'm wondering if anyone else is surrounded by people that think that you are either weird, childish, wasting your time...or all of the above?

Pretty much all my old friends that I didn't meet through exploring think I'm a "criminal".

A lot of my friends think it's cool, but never do it. I tell them got off your asses and go, I would take them but they live in the city, and I like 30 minutes from it.

I tried exploring a hot chick once, but she didn't appreciate my urge, & the bitch slapped me.

I explore many times a day, my DR said my urge to explore is completely natural and all a part of growing up and coming into my manhood.

He did say that all the messing around in abandonments is not such a good idea health-wise

My friends get it and some of them occasionally come with me. My family NEVER understands though, and outright tells me not to do it. My mom once tried to make me promise not to explore, and i told her that i simply couldn't make that promise. Sticky situation solved.

No one I know is interested in the slightest.

I can't even convince any of them to try it once. I show them pictures, etc. of neat places from here and they agree with me that some are fascinating but they still have no desire to go exploring.

I have a few friends who go with me and fully encourage my habit.

I have a couple of friends who don't do it, but understand that I enjoy it and don't down it.

And I have one or two friends who either don't understand it at all or think that I'm just a scofflaw and refer to my hobby as "B&E" *rolls eyes*

dsankt: In fact, the day I die yall are welcome to form an orderly queue and run a train on my eye sockets. I'll be dead and frankly, will not give a f*ck.
budda: That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Fuck me sideways this is insane.

my mom hated it at first. but that was fifteen years ago and she finally realized i wasn't going to stop. but it also took a long time of convincing her by not getting myself in trouble or getting hurt. the last couple of years, she has actually given me tips on where to go.

your friends that don't understand it will just have to deal with their own issues of not being accepting.
