About 2 years ago I was sent to Memphis Tn. On my way back there was a huge traffic jam that forced me to find a alternate route through rural backroads somewhere between Memphis and Atlanta.
Along this route I happened upon what I am sure can be found all along the U.S's backroads. A mom and pop gas stop and store.
Sorry for the crappy snapshotty style to these but I only had a crappy point and shoot for these.
Oh how I wish gas was this cheap.

In Canada, we pay per Liter, there are 4 Liters in a gallon, and our gas right now is around $1.00 per Liter, so you do the math  If you convert what we pay to per Gallon, it's about $4.00 per gallon!!!!
THAT is nuts! 
It's ( Knock on wood ) gone down a bit lately, to about $0.97, but it was up to like $1.30 in my area at one point!

Finland. The price just looks high because of the strong Euro - not too long ago it was just around US$6 per US gallon even though the price was higher (around 1.40 euros per liter).
Anyway, sucks to be... me. My car runs on the high-octane gas, which is couple of cents more expensive than the regular.
Every now and then I see pictures of gas stations during old, good times (when we had our own currency and all). The gas cost less than half of what it costs now. I guess it won't take long until the numbers are same again, and only the unit of currency is different...
Every now and then I do this to keep myself happy with the rising prices. At least until I remember I paid with credit card that charges the exact amount...

We should do a thread of these. Anyone else? There's an abandoned Exxon station in Covington, GA that still has prices set around $1.20/gal. It's not as photogenic, but I'll snap a photo when I go out this weekend if it's still there.

| | | | Shame they just demolished an abandoned Amoco a few blocks from my house a few years ago. The old manual pumps were still there, I still remember those from when I was little, along with the gas that was 81 cents a gallon for regular 87.
