|  | | | hey i was just looking through some of the real cool draining pictures on this site and i was wondering how they get them to look so good. Also, i was wondering how they do those awesome pictures with the flashes of light in them, i think its called trailing but w/e. I would also really appreciate it if you guys have any tips for finding drain infalls or outfalls.

| | | | I am not a photographer, but Ive been known to pick up a camera and mess around--to answer your question re: trailing, I believe this is done with the camera on a tripod, holding the shutter open for extended periods of time while someone moves away from the camera holding a light (often an LED)...
As for finding drain outfalls, check lowlands--water, and subsequently drains, travel downhill. Check the banks of rivers, especially if you have river bluffs... Check the shorelines if youre near a large body of water... Where exactly are you from?

thats predators approach to draining document--its old and I still consider it a GREAT source of information for anyone interested in drains.

infalls: walk through the outfall and find out!
lightpainting: open shutter with open aperture, and you can do a couple things:
1) walk in front of the camera with a light and paint as you walk away from the camera for the duration of the exposure
2) stay behind the camera and paint your light across the walls for the duration of the exposure
strobing:
same as above, but you use a flash... either from behind the camera or in front of it... one or more bursts, depending on what you're going for
