| | | charest was re elected as i predicted. I was surprised and not surprised at the same time at the PQ performance. Boisclair i think was the reason for the poor performance. His speach style does not attach to the common man. I only fear now both the opposition and the party in power are too close in some aspects of political ideologies. The PQ when the liberals were in power were like their conscience and vice versa. Now its quite un balanced. We mustnt forget dumont is a former liberal.

| | | ...and Charest is a former Conservative. Personally, I couldn't be happier about the PQ finishing last, what a beautiful thing that is. Even if Mario Dumont is a separatist deep down in his heart he's built his party within and without on so much non-separatist support that he'd be comitting suicide by calling a referendum. to me he actually sounds somewhat reasonable on the issue ("the people of Quebec have already spoken twice" DUH). I think the best case scenario would be if the ADQ became the right wing party and that will force the Liberals more into the centre where they belong. They will have to become different somewhow and if the ADQ continues to build federalist support they will have to do that. Now I will be able to vote for the party I agree with most instead of that one big huge issue that defines all of Quebec politics. You know, like Jean Charest is an asshole and I don't agree with really anything he's done, but he doesn't hate me...no more of that shit. And no one wanted to vote for Boisclair cause they couldn't take him seriously and so he flamed right out. I've had a smile on my face all day. Let's sign the fuckin constitution once and for all.

look in montreal, post de merger. A city like dorval has no jurisdiction maintaining lakeshore, fenelon, dawson, bouchard and dorval avenue. They are arterial roads so they are the mother city's responsability. what a crock.

that was more of a symbolic victory, its not so much the power but the maintaining of a community. Dorval can mobilize itself to have tax revolts and vote a certain way in say something like a Referendumb. It also remains a predominantly english part of Montreal that is separate from the big city of Montreal. Charest promised to give the cities back democratically. what he did was completely undemocratic. I mean a vote that isn't cast counting as a vote against? we should only be so lucky that other votes (hint, hint) could be run that way. He also ran his campaign on that, and thats how he won Quebec in 2003. True, the PQ were the ones who initiated it but I don't expect anything but evil from them so I was pissed (I lived in Hull at the time) at them but I didn't feel betrayed in the least. the only way Charest could have ever redeemed himself to me was had he signed that frigging constitution. I still had to vote for him.

only some guy with an english screen name (he probably also listens to english music and watches mostly American movies, too) suggesting that a whole linguistic group doesn't (or shouldn't) exist in Quebec. [last edit 3/28/2007 3:51 AM by Jesus Died For Somebody's Sins - edited 1 times]

Shhhhhh. ---- Malheureusement, le seul choix que la majorité des Québécois non-séparatistes, qui croient quand même à un système moindrement socialiste, était de voter pour les libéraux. J'aimerais voir un parti ressemblant au NPD entrer dans la politique Québécoise. [last edit 3/28/2007 7:59 PM by BioHazard - edited 1 times]
