|  | | | Si y’en a qui ne le savent pas encore, notre chère TaP à été temporairement bannis. Pourquoi? Pour avoir parlé en français sur le chat de UER. Sérieusement, je trouve ça absolument stupide et très surprennent de la part de AV. Comme xAme à dit sur MSN, c’est presque du racisme.
C’est vraiment mais vraiment bas.

Je parle régulièrement dans le chat en français. J'ai déjà eu une conversation entière avec Djue sans aucun problème.
Sauf que, peu importe la langue, faut pas faire chier le monde. White Trash, il attend juste ça qu'on le provoque et il saute sur n'importe quelle excuse, c'est comme ça qu'il est.
Tap, tu sais que je t'aimes comme un frère - on est allé à FACE et ça, ça compte. Reste que Tap, des fois, il est pas toujours mature et quelques fois, il est même cocky (oui, nous le sommes tous, moi inclus, je le sais). Des fois, ses posts sont pas tous intelligents (oui, comme nous tous).
Traitez moi de ce que vous voulez mais je pense beaucoup que Tap, il s'est pas fait bannir pour avoir parlé français, il s'est fait bannir pour avoir fait chier le monde du chat. D'ailleurs, à moins que je me trompe, c'est pas la première fois.

Ouais, tu as entièrement rasions, TaP à déjà été banni… Moi j’ai apprit la nouvelle de Mickael sur msn, qui m’a dit qu’il a été banni temporairement pour avoir parlé en français sur le chat. Je ne connais pas les circonstances exactes mais Ça enlève pas le fait que AV n’aime pas le français...

I might be the only here but I quite like UER. I think this site is great and I've met amazing people through UER, not only here but all over the world. I love our community and I value many UER members advices.
So for all these reasons, I consider myself a guest in Av's house when I'm on UER. I don't take it for granted and I behave just as I behave when I'm a guest at someone's house. I don't trash the place, I try to stay polite, to behave and I don't insult the host.
I've had many arguments with Av and others, especially back in the days when UER was supposed to turn into a democracy (which never happened).
I do give a shit and I don't feel like I'm bullied when I speak french at all.
I still stand by my previous post : tap got banned because he pissed off the host, especially in public instead of taking his arguments in private, not because he was speaking french.
I still believe it's not the language as much as the way it was spoken.

La cest moi le membre de UER qui parle et non le mod. Je suis parfaitement daccord avec maze sur le fait cest le site de AV, dans le temps il y avais des mods qui voulais pas que le francais soit parler meme sur les boards du quebec, cest de la pression de nous, le old guard comme maze spek et moi qui ont reussi a nous donner une fenetre en francais sur le monde de UE. Les temp ban sont pas donner sans raison valable. Moi ca fais presque 4 ans je suis ici et jamais jai ete temp ban. Maze aussi, maze qui a le don de faire chier le monde(je veut pas tinsulter) mais quand elle les fais chier elle a des preuves et des bonnes raisons, alors pas de ban non plus. De mes observations, des temp ban et des ban sont quand meme difficile a avoir. Si vous regarder dans le post history de nimporte qui sur la liste de temp ban vous allez voir vos preuves.
Et comme maze a dit, cest pas une democratie, AV paye les factures, avec un peu daide, et si jamais ca lui tente, il pourra fermer le site aussi AV a coder ce babillard, de tout les babillards ou je participe ici cest un des meilleurs, pourquoi? grace aux talents de programmation de AV. Moi non plus je suis pas toujours daccord avec quest quil dit mais ca reste cest a lui le site et cest lui qui decide.

i dont see why you think he is a racist, the website is english, it always had, we are not prevented from using french but out of consideration the chat has always been an english envoronment.

As a person that lived in 3 different provinces, one french, one bilingual and one english, I take great offense in someone talking about how Canadians are toward the french speaking citizens while they never actually lived it on a daily basis. cheapshot accusations are easy and this is not the place.
And for having many arguments with Av and to have met him in person, he's obviously not racist.

TaP a probablement cherché le trouble mais ça n'excuse en rien le fait de bannir quelqu'un sous prétexte qu'il a parlé en français. À ce que je sache ce site est sous jurédiction canadienne; si on a le droit d'être servi en français dans un commerce en Colombie Britannique (et oui je suis au courant qu'en pratique c'est une autre histoire), je vois mal pourquoi on ne pourrait pas s'exprimer en Français sur un site web.

Je ne crois pas qu'un site web soit reconnu comme une organisation officielle et en plus, malgré le .ca, le site est hébergé aux USA donc il tombe sous juridiction américaine.

but even if he was, this isn't about whether or not AV likes french or not. This is about the rules of the chat room. if you think that the "speak English ONLY" rule only exists on the UER chat room you are dead wrong. Check out almost any mIRC servers and rooms, there is a language law in 90% of all the official rooms (meaning not the channels you creat yourself on someone's server such as jaundies or what ever)
internet is global and to bring everyone together without barriers you must set a standard for communication. That's why the peeps from germany, bosnia, poland, china, etc.. speak english and type in english in the UEDB for example. Quebec's section is bilingual which is great, I practice reading french and it teaches me new terms since being born and raised in montreal wasn't enough for me to learn french in my english school growing up... however, it is a luxury to be able to speak french in even a mainly french sector ON AN ENGLISH communication standard website ran from Toronto.
If AV was a "racist" against the francophone community he would not even have quebec on his map of canada, and might not even have quebec in the UEDB especially since it takes up the most space on the server almost.
And to cover an other possible excuse:
If the typing in french was done to pass a message only understood by another french speaker then that should have been done in PM.
