Hey toast! Haven't seen you on here in a while. Anyways, I suggest that somebody scout out Camp Roberts. Part of it is an active National Guard facility, so use caution, but a VERY large portion has been abandoned for at least two decades.

i never went to avila
tank farm is cool but if you go, be safe!!!!!
not much security but lots of cows, coyotes????(you can hear them)
i wouldnt recommend going during the day, although it would be easier.
id love to give a tour but i no longer live in slo, atleast you might have someone to explore with.
have fun

sure, I'm up for anything. I now have a car, which is something I hadn't expected a few days ago, as well as a motorcycle - so if you don't have transportation, I can get you somewhere. I'll send you a PM with my cell number, give me a call sometime.

advice:
if going, enter tank farm from side street by airport
easy access(barbwire fence (cow style)), more to keep things in.
you have to trek through a small creek but you dont have to jump a 10ft fence on a busy road.
beware of airport runway lights. not only do they scare the shit out of you when they turn on (flashing lights (my first thought was the cops), they will silhouette you for the world to see.
also contamination, im not sure how safe it is to be there for health reasons??
i hope you guys have fun if you go its huge so take lots of pics

Hey,

Count me in if you anything gets planned. I’ve been through all of the train tunnels up on the grade. They really make for an adrenalin pumping experience.

damn snordhol, thats some hardore tunnel work right there =] you could get squished pretty damn easy if you do anything wrong and toast, normally id be fine with exploring outside during the day, but you dunno what kinda old farts are flying out of the airport and talking about people climbing in tanks. i also hear avila still has some active stuff so that would be no good for a day run. maybe really early in the morning or something

So if any of you want to come down to Santa Maria Fri or Sat night I'm gonna try and hit up an old sugar beet factory... I've been there a few times in the past, but I've not really taken any pictures.

Just let me know...

Alex
