Lol, well I never posted locations in threads, but in PMs or AIM. And on the forums I'd say "I uer'd that building" plenty of times.

Why the hell is it so damned important for the new guy to know the short hand we use? It doesn't make the person more of an explorer? Hell half the people on this board talk the talk, but most of them don't walk the walk. Why don't you teach them something important like... you need at least a friend/someone knowing where you are going. Arm chair knowledge wont help these people anymore then crying about miss used UE spelling makes you a elite explorer.

It isn't important, and it has no purpose on an actual exploration. Just some ue-specific netiquette. It's certainly not as important as actual exploring advice, it's just a tip. Damn, if even this can turn into an argument I don't know how long this particular sub-forum will last . . .

| | | I find the term UE'd to be completely redundant. The exploration of structures already implies an urban setting; however what about cases where the building is located in an isolated area? Can this still be considered "urban exploring" when you are out in a field? For these reasons i'll stick with a simple "I explored", rather than "I UE'd". And knowing the terminology accepted on these boards will help a rookie avoid ridicule. I (as well as others I am sure) cringe when I see a sentance along the lines of "Look at this abandoned house I found, I think I will be UERing it tomorrow!" | | | My whole beef with a thread like this, is the fact its similar to grammar nazi's. Now later down the road were going to get a guy who accidently typesI have been a UER instead of UEr or Urban Explorer. Then all the grammar nazi's will attack him for not reading the rookie forum and now their perceived Urban Explorer Mastery has derailed the main objective of the thread. I have watched this to many times, and the crying makes me want to choke these people.

| | | The point of this thread and forum is to help and educate people new to UER or exploring. The idea of my post was to educate people that there *is* a difference in the various acronyms, so it would be useful to know them, in order to effectively communicate what they want to say.
This isn't meant to be a debate. Any additional useful tips are welcome. Any further negative comments are not, and will summarily removed.

| | | The encyclopedia would be a good place for this. I also think a sticky thread should be created that links to specific n00b oriented encyclopedia entries such as this one. As more and more threads are added to this section, this thread will disappear into the mess of threads, and won't really serve its purpose. [last edit 9/10/2006 8:22 PM by Brind - edited 1 times]

Pinning it is a good idea, but I really don't think this is appropriate for the encyclopedia, especially now that this section exists. The entire point of the Rookie forum is to answer some of the questions and concerns many new explorers have. If we don't use the section, what good is it? The encyclopedia is meant to be used as a resource for specific definitions. This is more of a guide.
