man i missed you guys.
im no longer a resident of lower california, yahhhhh

anyways, yes i did do some exploring when i had a chance (between moving & looking for a job)

the first spot is in eureka,ca , just off the 101 http://www.google....,0.004163&t=h&om=0

im not sure what it is? but i think maybe freight warehouse?
anyways, i found it long ago when i was about 17. my brother and i stumbled across it and turned it into our hangout.(apparently so did the bums and taggers)
on to the pics

the second spot is not much just a barn.....a pony express barn!!!!!:o
yes its historic but theres no marker? why?
1. its on private property(the owner would kill me if i gave this location)
2. its so far away from every thing no one would ever see it(approx 120 miles from the nearest city)
the owner has 300 acres of redwood forest property, which holds all in all about 5 historic landmark worthy sites all from the late 1800's.

finally the last spot is in HISTORIC VICTORIAN FERNDALE
http://www.google....=0.001201,0.004163

i know for a fact that this house was raided by the f.b.i.
there are signs that this was a house used to grow marijuana (soil, waterlines lights, ect.)not to mention the fact that its in HUMBOLDT COUNTY.
the entire front room wall is a bee hive, and the room directly up stairs from that is home to about 10 birds.

Cool, I've heard there are lots of abandoned sawmills up there, and I know there are lots of abandoned rail lines.

i know of about 5 mills that are abandoned in my area, you just have to sweet talk the 24 hour guards to get in. i was going to put map links to them but figured my post was long enough.

WOW, that house is really something...i would buy that thing so fast and fix it up!!

I love seeing old victorian houses restored to their former glory.

Hell yeah eat some of the shit in that fridge!!! hahaha

It looks like someone was living there not to long ago?

Can you give us more history on the house itself?

I'd love to know what happened and why such a pretty little old house was left to rot....*sad face*

the only history i know, is that this was one of the first victorian farm houses in the area(late1800's-early 1900's).
unfortunately people want new homes with fancy frills, so the land owner built a new home and put this one up for rent(apparently to pot growers).
moral of story grow pot lose your house.
mid july 2003 (approx guess from date on milk carton),renters of the home are raided by f.b.i.
i assume the owner figured house was to far gone to fix and re-rent(?), i mean who wouldnt want this fireplace?.

if your down to make a 4 hour drive im down to give a tour,i only live like a 1/2 mile from the house, so its not a problem.
the problem is i dont have the internet up there, yet(im in process of moving from san luis), so i have no way of contact through the site......
im gladd you guys liked the house, there is about 3 more houses i know of i just havent had a way to get to them(still no car(the reason ive never been to a event))all of them are approx 10-15 min drive off the 101....
humboldt is full of abandoned sites (saw mills, homes, factories, ect.) all farely easy to explore, except the mills which are under 24 hour guard.
for the most part you can spend hours exploring most sites, the cops are far away and few will even waste time with "trespassers" .

p.s sorry spelling?

Great stuff, Toast. I love that area.

Since we're on the subject of Victorians, here's a couple shots I got of a Victorian I found in Watsonville. Couldn't get in as the property nearby is still active, but I probably could get in in the future if I wasn't wearing flip flops and shorts.

Love the pics of that Victorian. I want to college at HSU, so it is really cool seeing some of my old stomping ground posted! There were a few boarded up duplexes and buildings in Manila we unboarded once and dug around in.
