The end of Upas st.

I did some scouting today with Mister Garg and a friend.

I heard from the other thread that there was a manhole off a trail at the end of Upas st. So I had to go check this area out and see what i could find.

I found MANY manholes, lol but i also found a four foot high concrete storm drain.

It looked really interesting but the sun was going down and we were not prepared to deal with water....lol

Anyways if someone feels like checking it out, here are the pictures to show you where its at.

We found this small stream first, and i looked through the bushes to see where the water was coming from, but this was a storm drain that was to small to get into.

so we kept going...

We actually found this larger storm drain right off the street...

This is the street above the storm drain..
the drain itself is just off to the left under those two poles.

Yeah...hehe it WOULD have ben more fun if there wasnt water in there, and i had a flash light!

We were totally up for tunnel scouting, but maybe next time!

My main goal is to help out the San diego crew and find more spots for us ALL the check out. So i might not venture all the way in but ill at least lay down a track for others to check things out more if they would like to.

HA HA. Garg, I think what they're trying to say is that they want you to do all the grunt work to find a trans-border drug smuggling tunnel for them so that they can import Columbian cocaine.

Get back to them when you find one. I want a cut too.

Hey I'm glad you took that lead. Its funny that part with the white fence doesnt remind of of the end of Upas street, I remember a metal yellow gate. But then again, I havent been there in about 2 years. Sorry my lead was sorta boring. I might be going down to SD some time soon. So ill have to check it out.

use the boost to get through

Hmm maybe your thinking at the other end of Upas st.?

This is the end thats closet to my house, and this end of Upas the street splits off into like three diffrent directions. One that keeps going toward the golf course and the other split off is that were that picture is.

(its ok about the cutting remark, sometimes rude comments catch me off guard)

=-)

Its all good...

You found a typical mixed bag drain here in San Diego...a trashy entry with standing, questionable water. The pipe seems like a decent size so look for the outfall side to see if its any better. If you follow Florida Canyon further into Balboa park, you'll find at least 2 other decent drains.

Go get yourself a good headlamp or mega-watt flashlight and see what's in there. Just as long as you stay away from drains in rainy weather, its plenty safe. I've yet to see anything old enough in the county that ever carried sewage. Its all just runoff here.

I have a page of San Diego UE here: http://danoh.smugm.../gallery/1087310/1
and some pro level images from a Balboa Park draining trip here: http://karlgrobl.c...dventure/index.htm

Welcome to the club!
