| | John Marsh House < on 6/18/2006 6:10 PM >
| | | On June 3rd, the John Marsh Historic Trust was having an open house, and invited me because I had sent inquiries to them before asking for permission to enter the house. So I went and got some pictures. The Trust is currently working with the California State Parks to create a park of the property with the house being the main attraction. However this won't likely happen soon as the estimated cost of renovating the house and the surrounding areas is $20 million dollars, a lot of money at this time. So the place will probably sit as it is for a while, and unless you ask permission you won't be getting in easily. It was a pretty cool place, so if you are in Brentwood just drive by it to look or go check out the nearby mill ruins, which are more accessible. If I receive any news regarding public tours I'll post it here. http://www.uer.ca/...ow.asp?locid=24897

| | | there's a place similar to this one near me. LA LAOMA ive posted about it. property owners bought it hopeing(sp?) to turn it into a tourist attraction, spent about 150k on restoring it, then asked the city for help. city asked for 2 million in funds to restore, received 1.5 million. built fence, stabilized walls (if thats want to call it, barbwire and wood.)
then ditched it and sold the property arround it. hopefully that doesn't happen to this place...;>.... YAH RIGHT let em forget about it, then we can explore it whenever we want.(considering its stable, unlike la loma.) TOAST

| | | Dont hold your breath on reconstruction starting soon on the Marsh house. Its been kicked around for over 20 years that i know of and never gets anywhere but more expensive. I visited at night around 10 years ago and its a fairly interesting property but pretty much stripped.
