New member, (relatively) new at urban exploration.
Has an project idea. Would like to know if anyone has information about the plant. Who owns it, whish companie, who is the estate agent responsible for it. But most importantly, Before starting anything, would like to know how every one feels about a film project taking place at the Malt Plant.

| | | Welcome! I'll only answer the second part of the question, though. A ton of movies were shot in there, I don't think anyone here minds about that. The last production was a month ago. I have no idea how much would it cost to officially shoot something there but it might be crappy because of security measures and insurances.

| | | I don't think you need our permission to film at the malt plant. Really, you don't need anyone's permission. You can just go there with a camera. I reccommend it.

| | | Great thanks to everyone who brought something positive to the forum up to here, you are of great help. Althought, I understand that you are tired of hearing about the whole place. It is only that it has a great power of attraction in terms of visual aspect. At least for a neophyte. So try to understand the enthousiasm.

| | | Blow it up? Nooooooooooo I'd prefer to buy it, fix it up (tho keep it grubby enough to look desolate) and live in it.
I walk quietly through a forest, choosing my own path. One that no one else may follow. |

| | | in any cases the price is way to high for the lot, the buildings are all out of order and of any commercial value. The land worth way more than the buildings and not $5,000,000.00 maybe 1,000,000.00 Imagine buying the place; the brick building is out of any repair, the silos have historical value (you will have people throwing you bricks if you put them down) and the soils are contaminated. You are not out of the mud yet. GF was a better deal for about the same price and way better located.

or its inhabited entirely by people like us, except with money... i'm a little late on this topic, but i don't understand all the hating on the malt plant. just because you've been there a hundred times and are tired of it doesn't mean you have to be disparaging about someone else's interest in it. its one of the most accessible, and in my opinion, one of the most interesting, abandoned buildings in montreal. give the people who haven't been exploring as long as the rest of us a chance to discover it for themselves.

| | | I'm like you North. I've introduced soooo many people to UE through a visit at the Malt Plant and Dow Brewery. Those locations are great for people to try UE and see if they like it or not.

I don't think it's the best location. I think it's a great location to introduce people to UE. The best location is the always the latest one I just found and nobody else ever been there...
