|  | | | I happened to be strolling past St. James Methodist the other day. The developer has applied dashed lines marked 'coupez ici' along the outline of the part of the facade which will be removed. This kinda made me laugh...
Anyway, it looks like the demolition's already under way. Getting in for a little look-see should be a no-brainer these days.

on the picture you can see piece of orange tarp left from the asbestos removal, note that on the left wall the plaster was strip form the terracotta brick wall. Delsan has done the work well this time.

Au moment de sa construction, Saint James, avec ses 2000 places assises, était la plus grande église méthodiste au Canada.
L'extérieur du bâtiment évoque le style architectural des grandes cathédrales gothiques françaises.
Son orgue est composé de 64 jeux répartis sur quatre claviers. Fabriqué en 1891, il a été entièrement remis à neuf en 1938 par les célèbres frères Casavant.
La chaire d'où la célèbre abolitionniste Harriett Beecher Stowe a prononcé un discours contre l'esclavage a été acquise par l'église.
Les membres de cette congrégation ont aidé à fonder le premier YMCA nord-américain et ont mené une campagne active pour le vote des femmes dès le début du XXe siècle.
