I'm going to St. petersburg in June to visit some "long lost" family.

Any suggestions on any attractions around Tampa, Clearwater, or St. Petes aside from ones found in that pamphlet in the Travelodge lobby?

Salvador Dali Museum in St Petes is VERY cool! Try and catch a show at Jannus Landing too. It's like an old hotel courtyard that has concerts in it. I saw Karl Denson there in 2003. Theres also an old bridge causeway thats right beside the new bridge but it is not open to traffic. Try rollerblading or cycling across it and back.

If you're talking about the Skyway, it's a fishing pier now.

There's a lot of stuff in Tampa, but not too much in Pinellas county.

Sometimes, you need to march right in and demand your rights, even if you don't know what your rights are, or who it is you're talking to. Then, on your way out, slam the door.

I suspect you are talking about the "Friendship Trailbridge". It runs right alongside the Gandy bridge that connects Tampa to St. Pete. I'm going to be in and out of Tampa at the end of the month, but if you let me know when you are going to be around I might be able to get some hook ups with the concerts going on at the Ford Amphitheater at that time.

Likewise for you locals that are around, if you need such a deal let me know because I can work that out for some shows but not all. We just need to keep it on the D.L. if you know what I mean...

Yes!!! The Gandy Bridge!

I remember a huge fucking red & white hydro tower at one end. Was a great bike ride and my buddy bladed it.

Might I reccomend not going to downtown Clearwater? The whole place is being turned into a sort of Scientologist religious mecca. Never mind all the people that have died there during their wack-job therapies... http://www.xenu.org Although it would be one hell of an inf to get inside some of their guarded facilities. Of course, it is for that very reason that I am not allowed to set foot on their property anymore. They even called the guys in LA on me. This post was really just me hating the Scientologists...my real reccomendations would be the kitcshy Sponge-o-rama museum in tarpon spring, the sponge diving capital (capitol?) of the world. If you're into tiki, check out the Best Western Tahitian resort, an classic old hotel that's BW in name only. Also, head over to Gibsonton, a famous wintering spot for carnies. It's been a little quiet around their since the murder of the wife-abusing, lobster-clawed "Lobster Boy" (actually a drunk old man), but you could look at the best bar in town, Showtime U.S.A. (i think that's the name). At any rate, have a good time in God's waiting room.

Find your way to Ybor city too. Lots of historic buildings, shopping, and night spots. Just don't get lost; It's next to a ghetto and I don't know what would happen heh.

yeah, I work down in the Ybor area. 4th Avenue to 9th Avenue between 14th Street and 22nd Street is the general area to stick to, outside that it gets pretty questionable pretty quickly. The warehouse I work in is down by 39th Street and 7th Avenue and it is a complete shithole between our place and the area I outlined above. i.e. don't walk through there alone at night. Someone smashed in the glass front door of our warehouse last week, and broke into one of the vehicles in the parking lot.

However, on the up side, Ybor is a very nice area (within the confines of what was noted above) and is being heavily renovated with a lot of construction sites where they are building a ton of new apartments/condos.

How old is your warehouse? I wonder if it has an entrance into the secret tunnels? hehe

nope, no entrances to the tunnels from this little place. I have certainly looked around here for those sorts of things. This place is too new, and I met the guy who built this place. An odd fellow indeed.
