A midwinter's jank!

Wooooh this last year has been a doozy. No time for anything, working way too much and having way too many plans that I was working way too much for falling through way too much. And when I could get away for a little bit I spent a lot of that time actually rambling about and not... writing up posts on the ramblings. So I've got a backlog of stuff I'd like to share (some of it's actually pretty neat, I think). But. Not gonna do all of that at once cause I'm... kinda lazy.

So here's today! I hope you all have survived the holidays and the POLAR VORTEX and are exploring the new year with gusto. This little spot is in southern Iowa, and the photos aren't as good or as plentiful as I'd have liked because we were in exposed farmland with nothing to break the howling wind and wouldn't you know it, 30 degrees is still chilly, when there's howling wind.

But hey. It's not -10 with howling wind. So let's all throw on our trunks and get out and play, right?

(disclaimer: neither myself nor my partner were wearing anything resembling swimming gear)

The shutter... thing hanging off that window looked like a solid piece of riveted metal. None of the other windows had them or any other kind of shutter; then again maybe they'd fallen or been taken off. But it didn't look like anything I'd seen on a house before.

Chimney still in pretty nice shape.

And then we fled, because my hands had gotten so cold that the touchscreen on my phone wasn't reacting to them and that made taking photos really difficult. I need to get a new point and shoot, y'all. It... needs to happen. Don't feel good enough for a real grown-up camera just yet.

Stay warm and safe out there everybody. I hope to be seeing a great deal of this place in 2014!

what a cute old farm house!

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.
