Some observatories have had to be abandoned because of increased light pollution in the areas where they are located. That could be why this site was abandoned.

The university that owns it (and for which I work) built a new facility east of town, plus they share one in Arizona. Right now, this one is sort of an embarrassment, because they're supposed to maintain it and they don't. I have a postcard of it from when it was still operational.

| | | | I found it hard to shoot inside. It's pretty confined in the domes and very dark elsewhere. Beautiful floors and a nice theater still.
