| | | | Motels along rural highways always have a sleazy charm to them, similar to drive-in movie theaters. Hotels always make me think of clandestine rendezvous, extramarital affairs, prom dates losing their virginity. And there is always a corn field near by, or the occasional river that smells vaguely of rotting fish. Always on a two-lane highway, separated by a grassy median - a highway with two few cars to justify its size, though in its heyday it would be filled with excited children heading to grandma and grandpa's house for Christmas.

| | | | I haven't seen a motel sign like that since they tore down the Haven Motel outside of Whitewater, WI. I'm surprised that neon sign wasn't scrapped a long time ago.

The abandoned truck stop two doors down is awesome as well.
For future reference, there are several tasty looking locations up and down that stretch of road. I wish I had time to check them all out.
