Cement plant in the middle of nowhere

In my wanderings I come across some interesting places. This one is special though, not because of any amazing architecture but because it is out in the middle of NOWHERE! I originally thought it was an ore processing plant for a nearby mine, but I came to find out that it was actually a cement plant that was built by a Filipino company before World War II in 1937. I just can't imagine building something like this way back then.

This last photo is just to give an idea of how remote and vast this area is. The picture was taken from a hill overlooking the processing plant. You can see for miles!

Wow, that's pretty crazy to see something like that in the middle of nowhere. And the fact that there's graffiti amazes me, especially because of it's location. You got some good pics, #'s 6 and 10 are my faves. Makes me wonder what else is around there hidden or something.

Thanks for sharing,

Thanks all! Glad you liked the photos!

The frying pan struck me as being so out of place that I just had to photograph it. With the vast distances so easily visible, it's a great place to shoot.

You are close! Just east of there near Beatty, NV.

This is exactly why I love the desert. I spend most of my paid time off wandering around the southern California desert. Have yet to spend much time in Nevada. Great photos, great find!

Glad you liked them! Lots more on my website as you probably noticed. I was out this past weekend about 150 miles north-east of Vegas doing some more mine exploring. Will probably be the last time up there until spring. It's about 6k feet so it gets cold and is always windy. Time to start exploring south.
