Just a few shots from a recent trip to Ireland. Found so many abandonments around the Ring of Kerry it was unbelievable. Unfortunately we were in a rush and didn't get to stop at many other than this. Sorry for the 'through the window' shots, no POE evident. Enjoy!

I wouldn't buy pie from that guy, he's probably just trying to molest you...like a mailman or something.

one of the things the place isn't short of is abandoned housing from what i can tell in various states of decay. Some due to natural movement of people other due to the economic troubles there just now.

New to this so bare with me!

It's true that sadly we have a large number of abandoned buildings here in Ireland due to economic situation. To truly understand the situation, it must be noted that in the 20 years or so leading up to the crash, Ireland had unprecedented growth. The Celtic Tiger years gave us the highest GDP per capita of any country over half a million residents and not many below that (Monaco, Luxembourg) were above us. Even with the bailout etc, we're still in the top 10 in the world! The Celtic Tiger created a property boom and construction was EVERYWHERE however when Freddy Mac, Fanny Mae and Lehmen Brothers landed in trouble, our banks collapsed under the property bubble and it dragged the entire country down. There are brand new buildings all over this country left unused and idle. Houses, shopping centres, office buildings. Ideal for Urban Explorers.

Yes i now my Job went to Waterford last year because the Irish government was offering a grant to the company and The Uk had withdrawn grants the year before. I have another job so not worried but there is a shit load in Ireland to explore and its of various different types so well worth the visit. From what i have heard though nanny watch is a pain
