The mannequins and I returned a few days ago from almost a week long adventure through the desert. True to my "style" I shot a mix of chaos and peace. Therrin and Carozz18 joined me for a day and there was a load of non-sense that night as we climbed all over (in my opinion) the coolest abandoned mill in the Mojave. Anyways I'm sure I'll have more, but here's what I've got edited down so far (for sake of sense, nonsense first followed by peace):

1) If Jane hadn't made Jodi

2) Look deep into the monsters eye:

3)Hold on to me while the world burns..

4)The Cat in the Hat Splits Up Jane and Jodi

5) Jane and Jodi get all steamed up playing together.... (waait, no nevermind)

6) The haunted prospect

7) Eye don't know...

9) How pure is pure?

10) Spin me around again...

11) Lift me to the stars

12) No Ore Here

13) Standing Tall

Towards the end we went up near Trona...

14) ....where school seemed to be out forever....

15) ...and the saloon seemed to be dry...

16) That night we slept at the Trona Pinnacles.

17) Finally an epic group shot from the night Therrin and Carozz18 came out..

Thank god Railguy hasn't found those nice locations yet!

=) Had a great time out in the desert with ya both. We'll have to meet up again sometime when we can spend a little more time.

I liked,
"Hey Therrin that's full of water"
"What? no it isn't" *SPLASH* "OMG GUYS THIS IS FULL OF WATER!"

Nice shots though. It was a pleasure to meet Jane and Jodi.

Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =)

I'm really digging 10,13 and 16. How did you get such emphasis on the rotation of the stars without over-exposing the shot. I would love to know.

1.

The morning after our tents almost blew away

2.

Shenanigans

3.

4.

Therrin pretending to fall off the edge, right before he actually fell off the edge hahaha. And ripped up his hand =(

5.

So fucking windy! Almost got blow off this thing several times...literally. Sustained winds in the Mojave that day were 30 - 40 with gusts up to 80mph

6.

Oh yeah and apparently a pre-requisite to being awesome is owning a Dodge.
Yeah Therrin, mines bigger than yours.... what.

WAS EPIC!!!! I can't believe it!!!

We explored this mine, the Gold Bar Portal, last August. I can find no information online anywhere about how deep this inclined shaft actually was. You probably saw where the tunnel was flooded. I wonder how much further the inclined shaft went?? Anybody know? Someone needs to scuba dive into it and check it out!

Might actually be worth diving with a cross section area as big as it has.

We were pretty bummed that it was flooded, I'd imagine being that close to the mill it would be pretty extensive; especially with a concrete poured entrance. It's always amazing where you find THAT MUCH WATER in the middle of the friggin desert. They must have either been pumping while operating, or they hit something and flooded it.

Thanks, those are stacked star trails, meaning the camera took 30s exposures for a while(I ran 50mins mostly), then digitally stacked with a program such as startrails. They make interesting time lapses as well...

So if I did this all right, you should see the time lapse, then the resulting stacked image below that. Just to give you an idea of what everything looks like. The begging of the that sequence is seriously under exposed, but I was banking on the moon rise to light it, and it turned out to be a good bet. I used StarStackX to do the stacking then the older StarTrails software to make the time lapse. StarStackX is cross platform and has a wonderful interface, StarTrails is windows only and looks like something I though was cool when I was 12..

I can't get the stupid thing to embeed, the link is here
