Pipe Up if You Want to be a Crane Operator

This weekend I decided to revisit a location that I stumbled on a few months so that I could explore it more thoroughly. A friend's recent adventure inspired me to climb to new heights while I was here. The photos could use some human interest in them but it was just me and my dog and my dog isn't good with cameras (or climbing).

1.

2. What do I spy in the distance...

3. Which ladder to choose... (Hint: Dont choose the middle one)

4. I'm sure she'd clean up just fine

5. Crane cables

6. I thought I was going to be able to have a tasting but the bottles were for display only

7.

8. It looks like this crane has 2 places to drive from

9. But today I settled for for the booth on the right.

10. Inside a building loft

11. One last crane before I leave...

12. All the modern comforts

13. I heard that this particular crane operator had 3 feet so they made an extra pedal for him.

Nice set! Looks like a fun explore. I like #3 with the light rolling hills in the background. Relaxing for some reason. Thanks for sharing!

Excellent pics! Thanks for sharing.

I'm pretty fond of #8 and #11, it's nice to see that stuff is available out here.

I've been there, fun little spot. Wish the buildings around it were also explorable.

Lovely set of photos pgathriller. A completely different perspective on the location compared to mine.

I like the wide angles and #7 is pretty interesting too.

This place was pretty cool! We went in July the first time, and the second time we brought a friend who pointed out the little rat skulls mounted on the wall around the demon portraits. Of course by that time we were already mid-chant and busy slathering our bodies with goat's blood.

On pgathrillers #2 that's me on the crane, and on pgathrillers #6 that's me on the ladder. I had been looking for these cranes quite extensively without luck, so I was super excited when I spotted them from the freeway. I immediately knew what I was looking at! Pgathriller basically already posted the best photos from that trip, but here's a couple extras:

1. On my way up:

2. That shadow...

3. Some controls

4. More controls

Wow. I know I shouldn't be happy about graffiti given how relatively pristine this place is but those demon portraits are pretty great. I don't recognize the artist. They look like they were painted rather than being pasted but I can't be sure.

You are correct sir. The paints, brushes and sketches are nearby in a cabinet. This guy was just freehand I think, sketching in pencil or chalk
I was sad over the dead crow that was placed in front of one of the paintings though. Hope it wasn't a sacrifice.

The birds must have been out for the evening, lol. But that ladder is pretty useless anyway, unless you're a fan of rotting wooden catwalks. Partime mentioned one of the other ladders in his original post... this crane gets 1/3 on my ladder score.

1/3 out of 10?

Or 1/3rd of a percent? 0.3%?

1 out of 3?

That's the most ridiculous scoring system ever. When I look at 120 year old wooden ladders that are standing 200ft tall and then I go climbing up or down them, I think to myself "There's a 60% chance these could just break out on me", or "I give these ladders a 2 out of 10".

I don't give them a "14/68ths of (x) / (9-2y)" on my scoreboard.

Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =)

It was a joke, because that crane has 3 (perfectly safe, 100% ladders), but 2 of them basically go nowhere. Only one will actually take you to the cabin. Hence 1/3.
