And the Suitcase Exhibit was just there... hundreds of suitcases belonging to people institutionalized at Willard State Hospital were found in the attic of an abandoned building. The exhibit was... I want to say something enthusiastic because it was very intense and moving, but their lives were pretty tragic.

Entry to the rooftop playground is free, if you look up enough to know it's there.

The Rispin mansion in Capitola was recently partially restored and is slated to become a hotel/park. I've explored this location 4 or 5 times and was extremely happy to see that the didn't opt to demo it.

Historical photos.

One of my visits about two years ago.

The trees and plants outside cause the green hue.

Today (not my images).

Back in 2010 had a chance to explore old, beautiful airport which was intact from Soviet times. It was abandoned for about 20 years. Now there's museum of aviation. Success, because many museums in Riga aren't located in "proper" places.

Of course, many abandoned factories here are demolished and some-just-another-super-market are built afterwards. Or cheap, ugly housing projects.
