UAE?

I will be going to UAE soon and there's some internet talk of an amusement park in Al Ain that, while still open, has tons of abandoned rides. Pics here:

Anyone been? Seems pretty ideal in terms of the ability to poke around legally....

Don't take it lightly. I think KIA, Downfallen, spent six months in a saudi prison for base jumping off the burj dubai.

"Long story short.......I'm looking at 6 months inside over here.....thats the standard sentance for trespass, thats already been given out top the last French dude who tried and failed to get into the Burj to jump it."

base jumping from the tallest building and a symbol of development in the uae is very different to wandering around some crappy leftovers...

dubai is full of half finished empty buildings, just walk around near the marina and look up as you go, occupancy is at an all time low and the skyline is littered with partially finished sky scrapers

i think there would be opportunity for cautious explorers...some great rooftops at least...probably not much to look at from them, but you'd get some nice city shots.

NK is vicious about people documenting the fact that some things get left abandoned. Maybe UAE does the same? They are vulnerable to their own image.

Dubai is in Saudi Arabia now?! I don't imagine a UAE prison is much fun, but a Saudi one must be the worst ever.

Calling it an "Arab prison" seemed offensive.

Well, hence why I suggested this legal location!

But nosing around versus BASE JUMPING and yes, UAE vs Saudi are big differences.

I'm going to UAE and it's neighbours next month for a looksie. If there's some nice tall projects, i'll certainly weigh up the risks.

Used to live in Dubai when I was in middle school. If I'd been nearly as into urbex as I am now, I would have had a field day, every day. I lived there right as they were transitioning from a desert with some skyscrapers to a wannabe NYC. Would've been the perfect opportunity...

Not much to explore there I'd say except half finished skyscrapers.

there may be some storm drains for a once in 50 years flood, but lord knows where they would be, and most likely sewage polluted to boot.

Given the legal situation there, I'd say avoid.
