| | Old Mansion < on 12/21/2011 8:54 PM >
| | | Well we were supposed to hit a bunch of places in Galveston yesterday, but we got a late start. Several things happened before we even got to our first destination and by then I was starting to lose the spirit in it. First place we went was this Old Mansion, it was the first time I've ever been there.
Someone had left fresh flowers in every room of the house, which was weird.
The place is deteriorating pretty well. Neat place for sure, especially with the Pirate paintings.
After we left we tried going to the Amphitheater which is close by and got run off by the Park service damn quick. We next went to Falstaff, but as we were about to enter we heard loud machinery and voices so we decided against it. Not sure if they were supposed to be there because there weren't any official vehicles anywhere. All in all, nothing went as planned and I was really bummed, but at least we got to see the Mansion. | | | Pirates with pink toenails. How cute. *facepalms* Luckily I do remember that they only used chalk and it could easily be washed off.

better not be. those murals are historic and actually present the pirate lafette. i think galveston needs to save them if the house ever comes to that point. and as u and i know. its coming to that point =[

| | | They for sure need to do something and soon because more and more dumb kids are finding out about it and are just destroying it. It made me so mad to see them put stupid crap on the murals like that. Just graffiti in general, which started showing up maybe mid this year.

| | | I hate to be the bearer of bad/realistic news but: 1. Due to the fact the murals are already in very bad condition and that they are actually painted ON THE WALL, opposed to IN A FRAME and on the wall, those paintings will not be saved when the rest of the mansion is demolished. Unless, of course, someone went and tore out the whole wall. Anyways you get my point. 2. If "they" went and did something with these places then the locations would completely be inaccessible to use because it would mean that someone actually cared about them. 3. The house will prob end up crumbling the rest of the way to the ground in due time, with the help of local party animals and destructive teens. 4. Galveston isn't going to spend any money on anything that doesn't have potential to make them money. Sad but true.
Okay, I am done bursting bubbles for a while. Sorry guys.

thats my point. also galveston economy sucks. they cant restore half ther history and they dont want to. yet they have no need to further advance anything. galveston just wants to sit there and not move.
