For the dean it makes no difference if you are a computer or a education major.
Both are not allowed on this roof.
The students that work the help desk are NOT allowed to get on the roof to fix the WiFi antenna. The students that work for facilities are NOT allowed to get on a roof.
Students in general are NOT allowed to get on any roof for any reason.
I needed to involve a couple of people before I got permission from even more people, including security, the dean, and I don't know who else.
So having all these people involved, I don't know why I shouldn't be allowed to take pictures of people that take me up there.
So any other questions about my education, forget them, because they are not part of anything.

Not to be a SuchundFind apologist or anything, but English IS clearly a second language for this kid, so I suspect the way he frames his comments comes off a bit more tersely than if he had a better handle on the nuances of the language. I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt, since I haven't met him personally. If a few others were too, maybe we'd all get along in here a little better.
And here's the thing: Based on his pictures, he did what everyone dared him to do! Unless he's pulled off some sort of Photoshop hoax or something, he actually completed his end of the deal. So if he's got a bit of a chip on his shoulder, it might be because he's still getting nothing but crap from pretty much everyone on the board; he can't win.
And finally, to you Such: What several people have mentioned on this thread is true; most of us have plenty of UE experience, and yeah, we've mostly all explored places that are a lot more interesting that your rooftop outing. That doesn't invalidate it at all, but do try to bear in mind that, for the most part, the folks you're interacting with here in the South forum are pretty experienced explorers, so try to keep the ego and the attitude in check. We've all seen plenty of newbies come through here waving around pictures of an empty barn acting like they just got back from infiltrating an active nuclear site...don't be that guy.

from what ive seen in his other threads. engrish is a learning experience for him.
not to be rude but getting on top of school buildings is really easy.
UoH had an open door leading to a ladder leading to full roof access once when i was there riding my bike once. its was like 4am and security just left.
my school has unmonitored stairwell access to the roof (if i follow the janitor)
but its boring as shit.

This. And what Imbroglio said above as well. Listen... I'm not an apologist for Such either. But I gotta tell you guys straight up I'm pretty fucking disappointed. Whether the damn roof is exciting or not is not the point here.
I'm only going to say this once because I think that's all it will take. As a moderator who bounces around all over this site, I have ALWAYS given shout outs about the south and the fantastic crew that we have here, and about how no matter what comes along, the last thing any of us do is act like the assholes that I see so often in other regions of the country.
But straight up blunt and honest, some of you are acting like elitist assholes. I don't give a damn if the roof is exciting or not. It seems to me, for whatever reason, some of you have got your feathers ruffled and, like the poster above mentioned, no matter what this guy does, its not going to end well.
If I really thought that Such was doing this to be an asshole, I'd have just as strong a conversation with him. I honestly think it's a language issue. And Such, don't make a damn fool out of me here! These people are my friends. And maybe you need to have someone help make sure that what you are saying is portraying what you really mean to say. But I think the burden is on us to be a little more tolerant.
I'm not telling you guys that you have to like him. or get along with him. Frankly, I don't give a shit either way. But I do give a shit that there seems to be a lot of tension here that is uncalled for.
Don't be unjustly rude. There's no reason for that. Nothing wrong with opinions and even disagreeing. If Such irritates the hell out of you, then just ignore his posts. Or say what you have to say, but don't do it in attack mode.
I have faith in this group. We're better than this. Let's act like it.

I can't help myself, I gotta make one more post related to this. SuchundFind, I had told you once in a PM that I would be glad to help you make sure that things are worded in a way that doesn't come off abrasive to the group. I'm just putting this out there one more time. I'm willing to do that. I want you to be a positive contributing member to UER. And I want you to have a positive experience with the members here.
Most of the members here in the south region are some of the more experienced, and best explorers on this site. They know what they're doing. I think everyone here will accept you as a legitimate explorer. But you have to step back and let some of us help you fit in. And we will if you'll allow it.
But I wanna be clear that I am trying to keep the people of this region from getting drawn into an situation that would ultimately look bad on everyone. As a moderator I'm going to be fair to everyone as best I can. And I'm just putting it out there now, publicly, that you are going to have to step back and learn how to state your point without being abrasive. I'm still hoping that you don't intend to come off that way. I'm hoping it's a language and regional dialect thing.
But man, don't make a fool out of me. I'll never stand up for you again if you do.
