Hey everyone,

I'll be stationed in eastern Oklahoma for 4 months next year. Any cool/interesting places nearby? I'll be near the Arkansas border. I've never been before, but hoping to do some exploring while I'm there. Maybe we can get a trip together. Thanks in advance!

Aside from promises and a few friends I've made,
I don't think I'll stay here long.
With ease I leave, before my roots have grown.

Nothing like they had in Belgium. Be prepared to be majorly disappointed.

Haha I've loved every place I've explored equally!! I've seen some neat pictures from the Oklahoma picture a day thread, just no clue where any of them are!

OK is ok. there seems to be some activity, but i would look into other hobbies, like line dancing, watching collage football or fishing for bass.

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.

+1

I can't speak much as far as specifics for stuff around the east border, but I can tell you there are a LOT of rural schools to be had, also some old mills here and there.

Now if you are close to Talihina or Vinita (both within a hour of the Arkansas border), there are two large sanitoriums there. Also, if you are anywhere close to Muskogee, there are a ton of places there, mostly industrial.

Great! Thanks so much! That website really has a ton of good stuff.

I guess the big thing now is to find someone who wants to go with me somewhere. I'll be in the middle of nowhere (I think) with no means of transportation. Maybe there is something within walking distance, or how good is the transportation system there near Hodgen, OK? Anyone know?

When are you going to be there?

My parents live outside of Fort Smith. And given a very good reason I might go back.

Oh and don't speed in Oklahoma and bring plenty of extra tires!
