Journey to Mystery Island

So, now that I've run out of abandonments, storm drains, and inflitrations that are local, me and Stankweeed have come up with something to occupy our time. 2 semi-lumberjack guys, a canoe, lakes, and uncharted islands. Decided to see what's on them.

1. This is how it all begins. Me, Standweeed, the H.M.S. Bad Idea, and the Danger Ranger.

1a. This is the island in question. Little half mile number in Lake Lewisville. We launched out of Arrowhead park.

2. The H.M.S. Bad Idea sets sea, gently plowing the calm seas in the name of mediocracy and boredom. Ahead is the island in question.

3. The elusive Cpt. Slow foreground and Stankweed background.

4. By the grace of god, we made it.

5. Shore to the left.

7. Shore to the right.

8. Interestingly, the interior of the island is overgrown, yet plenty of paths lead through it.

9. Suddenly, we notice a low stone wall. It's very old. Very, very old. Crumbling with age.

10. Old tires. Someone has been here. Too nicely packed to have washed ashore.

11. Bingo. Old tent.

12. Interesting. Someone collected firewood and some shit. Probably just campers, this is on Lake Lewisville, anyway.

13. Bingo, campers. Old fridge turned into an... Oven?

14. What looks suspiciously like a grave.

15. WIIIIILLLLLLLLLLSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

16. Holy shit, paydirt. Ancient foundation.

17. And a campfire.

18. Perched on the back of the foundation, an old Chevy truck frame. On a half square mile island. Where did they intend to drive?

19. Nearby, another foundation!

20. And a swing, hanging from a tree.

21. Wheeeeeeeeee!

22. The sun begins to set over us.

23. Another, even bigger foundation.

24. Whatever this structure was, it had a fireplace, plumbing, and several bathrooms.

25. And a septic system.

26. Then, we find the door to a vault around back.

27. Just kidding. Just a fiberglass door that washed ashore.

28. The end.

I left out a lot. The island was pretty fuckin badass. We found a total of 5 foundations, an elaborate series of pipes and conduit, and lots of evidence of campers. We theorize before the Army Corps flooded the area to create Lake Lewisville, someone owned and lived in what appears to be quite a nice little farm on a hill, or something.

That's fucking bad ass dude! My kind of exploring, for sure.

Good job. Being at Lewisville, I'm surprised you didn't find any bodies.

Drains, drains, drains, drains, drains.

Did you raise a flag and declare yourself Emperor?

When we discovered Trogdor Island, on Lake Ray Hubbard, I declared myself Emperor and appointed Funtrawox as Supreme Military Commander.

If anyone cares to visit, I will be happy to grant you a visa.

Lake Sam Rayburn has a few of those too. People that refused to move, so had their lands flooded by the state.

Nice recon on that island. Pitty there was nothing still standing that you could have found something of more interest. But good set and story.

I grew up on that lake.

I lived in Zavilla, just a little ways from there when I worked for the U.S. Forestry Engineering Department out of Lufkin. I did a lot of hunting there.

nice find- as someone pointed out, that lake was man made- that explains the truck... prolly there before the lake was made, just a thought.
