| | | The Missing Floor - Or, How I Went On My First Roof < on 10/20/2011 11:05 PM >
| | | Alright, so after discussing the place a bit last night on chat, decided to give my first roof top a go. Well, I learned one of two things today - either the city zoning commission can't count, or they think I can't. From below, I counted no less than seventeen floors on this location - going by, of course, the windows. Well, I traipsed inside happy as can be and found the elevator which had the top five floors locked. To be expected of course. No biggie. Went instead to the handy-dandy stairwell, which helpfully had a sign reading "Floor 1 of 18". 18? Roof access, my friends. So up I go, eighteen flights of stairs, and am pleased to find that none of the doors along the way are locked (even the ones which were closed off from the elevator). 16... 17... 18! Welp, the roof door is the single locked one. So I walk my surely now-firmer behind back down a few flights and begin scoping the halls for fire escapes. Sure enough, the 15th floor had an outer doorway which led there, and thankfully, those selfsame steps led to a ladder that led to the top. Where I promptly collapsed. Second lesson of the day? Hit the gym, fatass. Alley below...

| | | It's because there's never a floor labeled as 13, superstitions and such. Good stuff though, hope you had fun!

| | | No, I actually checked for that - there was a 13th floor. Kind of disappointed, too, because I wanted to snap a photo of the buttons sans 13. And anyway, the trip was a blast, and as you can see... there's a few other nice plateaus around the city in need of checking out. So more to come, I'm sure. | | | Getting access to rooftops is fun. Is this an active building or an abandonment? Any history?
You're not in a brothel lineup. You're in a two way business discussion. |

| | | It's an active building, alright. It's the third-oldest in the city, and was built for the purposes of the theater on the bottom floor. The upper floors are luxury condos, and the top "tower" room to the left of the second picture used to be a high-end nightclub. Not so much anymore, as, well... It's Nebraska. So it got renovated into fancy-shmancy apartments, as well.

| | | Nice story.....I don't mind rooftops as long as I can enter then from the interior. I am a big puss when it comes to heights and couldn't climb a fire-escape more than 3 stories.......lol
