I am a native Texan, born in Fort Worth, grew up in Greenville and happily settled somewhere in between.
I have been interested in old houses and buildings since I can remember. I literally used to dream about stumbling upon a building inside a building and all the furniture and history behind it. Im more fascinated by the back story and want to know everything I can about a place. I'm not big on pictures and am just now getting into photography, and still learning the ropes. All I have right now is a small digital camera, but would love some feedback on a good camera to buy when I get to that point.
My first explore was an abandoned house that was right across the street from me. I was 17, newly married, halfway pregnant and bored out of my mind. This house was empty and accessible so I thought what the heck. Not sure how long it had been abandoned but I did find an early morning edition of the local newspaper from the day after Kennedy was shot, as well as a local reverse phone directory, so was able to look up the address and see who lived there during that year. From that moment on, I was completely hooked and will now go out of my way to go into old houses, barns and buildings, however I never realized this site was around or that there were so many others who and this same 'hobby' if you will. I'm not interested in the dangerous ridiculous things like climbing reunion tower-I'll leave those for the really brave people(I've seen some pretty crazy pictures on here!) and just stick to easy stuff for now.
I recently made my way down Old Hollomans road here in my town, after reading the history on it, and am now looking for other areas to explore, as well as meeting others who are into exploring as well.

Hope to hear from some of you locals.
