|  | | | This is the former Environmental Services building in South Bend,Indiana.It has been home to many homeless people and scrappers over the years.In 2006 police found 4 bodies in the bottom of 2 manholes along the railroad tracks out back of the building.The altercation was over a space heater in the building.The murders happened at two different locations in the building,the room with the murder scene grid was upstairs in the "loft".This building has had several fires over the years,not much to see.The building was razed this past april.1.1.

Really?
I only explored it once, during the end of November 2007. It was day time and I was with Slim Jim and Juggslayer McVomit. I enjoyed the place, got a ton of pictures, and we explored the place until sunset. There were lots of signs of homeless habitation, but we only found one apartment that appeared occupied. There was a door blockading entry into an apartment. I'm not sure why we felt so compelled to see what was inside, but we tried in vain to unblock the door. Somebody said they could smell cigarette smoke from the other side, so we hastily made our way as far from that door as possible and continued exploring elsewhere.
What kind of noises do you hear at night? Have you explored it in the dark?

Just what sounded like a group of guys yelling at eachother on one of the upper floors. We didn't stay too long.
We were there at night back in maybe March or so? I think that was part of the problem-- more squatters in the winter and such. Also one of the main doors had been forced open...by someone who wanted to get in pretty bad, I guess.

| | | | I did a lot of exploring in South Bend this last summer, and I remember several people (homeless and non) warning me about "all the murders" that happen in SB's abandonments. That said, most of ND would get scared-off by a bowl of wet Cheerios.
