| | | Good execution, but the clinical-style lines and compositions reflect a style that's been revisited too much in our hobby. Don't get me wrong, I still take them, just like I take peeling paint photos, but the straight-on studies of knickknacks isn't brouhaha (at all), it's simply formulaic.

"Useless brouhaha" is a borrowed quote so try not to take it literally. I suppose everyone has a particular interpretation of the world around them and I respect all of them. I appreciate your perspective too. I suppose my interpretations as of late have a cold, clinical feel, but I like it for now.

| | | Excellently done J, I don't mind the crisp straightforward approach. I wouldn't call it clinical, but it does have a sterile sort of look to it, but so does my stuff sometimes. You have your own likes, stick to it. btw, all I smelled during 16 was birdshit.

| | | 1, 3, 5, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15 and 17 are the standouts here for me. I like the color temp in 1. fitting and helps make the frame feel cold and dusty. 3 is a great study. well shot and exposed. 5 is all about the lighting and the shadows for me. 10 didn't catch my eye until the second time around when I noticed the square of extra detail in the reflection. It's intriguing and makes my eye wonder what else is out the window. 11 i'm a sucker for industrial decay and those carts have a beautiful deep earthy color. comp is on and the lighting is great (albeit a tiny bit blown out on the right hand side on the wall in the back) and the grays and browns of the factory really help give the frame that dusty and rusty feel 12 - the colors, that deep green of the mold and the earthy brown of the rust really send this frame home. you can almost smell that thick sticky stagnant air. the lighting and comp are spot on and the pipes on the ceiling help to join the foreground and background in space in the photo. 14 is all about the colors and the dof for me. in 15 i like the balance of the composition. the corner of the bed helps anchor the frame and the subtle peeling on the wall gives the frame more context. 17 is just some awesome hallway porn taken to the next level with the water and soft reflection. I don't often write this much but I was sitting sipping a morning coffee and I realized I had quite a list of shots I liked so I figured I'd use the spare time to at least explain why certain frames stood out in the set. Keep shooting and sharing. Good stuff. [last edit 9/27/2011 12:22 PM by Felonious Monk - edited 1 times]

| | | 1)I personally like it when photos look like the building is tipping over. 2) holy shit! in 16 you caught Macgruder using the power of his sexy stare to initiate his masterful use of dof. 3) this set is seriously lacking in cats. 4) I dig them all.

I have a T1i and I primarily shoot with the 28 mm. There is one photo here I shot with the 10-22 and a few I shot with the 85 mm.
It's always humbling to read such kind words from so many talented folk. I especially appreciate the specificity regarding the comely attributes of certain photos. [last edit 9/29/2011 12:40 AM by thewonderstory - edited 1 times]
