On a trip back from Paris, TX, earlier this summer, we stopped at a "house graveyard" for a lil explore. Had a great time!

Made my way up onto the porch of the first house, and opened the door, to discover...a baby bird! Not the kind I keep at home! I own a Goffin Parrot, this is NOT a parrot! LOL
When I snapped the last picture, it was starting to get a bit agitated, ruffling it's feathers and such...we decided that was enough, and closed the door! Then discovered a flock of adults circling the sky above us. Sure am glad it's momma didn't come home to discover us looking at her baby! Birds can be vicious when defending their young!

The second house that we went into turned out to be from the UE DB! I just discovered this a few days ago, maybe a week. Anyhow, here it is! But, the "sex dragon" lost it's fire somehow!

This door is so lovely, it caused me to actually purchase skeleton keys at Home Depot! ;) I want this door!

Last shots, rest of the "graveyard" This is out Hwy 121 headed from McKinney to Paris, it'll be on your left. Sure to have new things to see occasionally, since it is a house "graveyard"! I believe that they actually sell these houses!

The house graveyard was a lot of fun. It is a house moving company, so I feel sure the deal is that you can buy a house and have it delivered.

I'm still amazed that one of the houses we saw turned out to be in the database at its previous location (Frisco, TX) as presumed demolished. It is cool to find anything you lose. I would have never thought wings2fly would find a lost house.

I'm just glad she didn't want to bring that baby bird home!

Well, I posted here in Main because it was a re-discovery of a site in the UE DB that was believed to be demolished; and, I thought that would be interesting to the entire community. However, if the moderators think that in belongs in South, I will concur.

Just wanted to share...........

I really wonder why they'd bother to relocate some of those, a few just look like firewood.

That was how I felt exploring them! Can't believe anyone would buy one of these houses

ha nice find and connection!

...you are now obligated ( for the integrity of the DB ) to edit the location change the lat/lon and change its demolished status since its clearly not

( I think Bean should buy it and have it moved to a new piece of land )

edit: nice baby vulture pic

They buy them at auction for nothing, move them and set them up and finish them out to an almost new house and sell them by owner for 25 to 35k. I have been around them when our coal mine expanded and I would guess all of the labor is illegals so I would bet they turn quite a nice profit on them.

The amazing thing is when they move and reset up newer houses on slab foundation and rebrick them. you would never know it was moved.
