Ive driven by this place many a time and finally decided to drive out there and check it out today. Pretty cool place. There are a ton of No Trespassing signs so I made it quick.

Most of the buildings were boarded up or locked except for two of em. Still didn't dare to go inside. I did some research and the place went bankrupt in the 80's and was meant to be a "Tourist Attraction" but went in the hole in the Economic decline in the 80's.

Still a neat place to look at!

Pre-manufactured Ghost Town

Just East of Brenham, TX on US 290 appears to be a "pre-manufactured" ghost town on the eastbound side of the road. I say pre-manufactured, because it appears to have been some type of tourist destination site of about a dozen or so buildings, with a large, long since partially dismantled sign out in front. There's also a "posted no trespassing" sign, so any stops to view would be from the side of the road only.

I called a local nearby business, where the woman told me this was originally intended to be a tourist shopping area, built by a guy named Winkelman. He apparently brought in buildings from around Texas to assemble this collection. It came and went sometime in the late 1980s. [Jim L, 01/07/2010]

I may have to edit the rest of the hallway/porch shots I took..

Thanks!

2, 7, and 8 are my favorites out of the set.

I have been by here every time that I have been to Austin, and always wondered what it was. I looked around once, but didn't see any way in, and also saw all of the No tresspassing signs as well.

also the last time i went by there was a black SUV sitting down the road a ways, not moving.

No one was there. Only 2 or so of the buildings were not locked and boarded.
