Exploring a semi-abandoned building...tips?

Bit of a rookie here so bear with me. So to cut to the chase, I am planning on exploring a certain Kirkbride in Ohio soon. Thing is, the bottom floor has been renovated into an art museum. The wings and upper floors are abandoned and peeling away but you have to enter through an active area. My plan is to ascend one of the roped off spiral staircases and "get lost looking for the bathrooms" if you know what I mean lol. It's a long drive here and I want to make it worth because it's the only abandoned Kirkbride in Ohio. Any tips from anyone with experience with this kinda thing? Maybe I am just over-thinking it.

This could be risky but 8 times out of 10 if you ask nicely (look for the hippest mofo in there) they will let you go. If u don't see anyone that looks cool enuf to let u take the off limits tour, then do the "can't find the bathroom trick" I've used that one b4 and it works great.

One great thing about everyone having a smart phone now... everyone is so busy updating fb and twitter, texting and bullshitting that everyone seems to be oblivious to whats going on around them. Take advantage of that shit. I've slipped past so many people that should be working and paying attention to their job but the are either 20 points away from beating their high score on angry birds or fighting with their bf/gf over a txt message session that nobody sees shit anymore... everyone is immersed in their stupid phone...

Anyways.. be safe and make smart decisions no matter what the scenario and always.. ALWAYS go with your gut.

gotta get in, before its gone forever

I have emailed multiple people for permission and they blew me off each time due "moral and safety reasons." I responded with a list of groups and people that legally gained access to the building and I got no reply. I guess they really don't want to deal with me lol. Anyway I guess the best approach is common sense, I am getting a look at this place regardless.

Just do it. Dress well, don't be seen hopping said rope if possible. Better to ask for forgiveness than permission. If caught, be polite and offer to leave and then leave. Don't argue or give them a hard time, just leave.

As per the fire code, all entrances from the active art museum into the side wings have been cinderblocked over. I saw it with my own eyes when in the wing that's currently active as storage (left side) and is not really worth exploring at all, as it was renovated in the 80's and you can't even tell it's a Kirkbride anymore. The art museum employees couldn't let you into the abandoned side even if they wanted to.

And no, I don't know who to contact. I've even been in touch with some of the higher-ups at the university with no luck. Good luck, I've been trying to get into this one for years now.

Well I do know that if you go through a certain door in the storage area, there are sections of the East Wing that are pretty cool and unrenovated, complete with cells, a chapel and a lobotomy room. I guy on flickr told me how to get there. I know that the West Wing is cinder-blocked up, but I have located some loose windows that I may or may not be able to squeeze through. I also know there are stairs in the mail services building that get you to some cool looking areas including a ballroom in the East Wing. As you can see I have researched the hell out of this place. If all else fails, I can settle for exteriors.

Here are some videos from the mail building enterence:

This is that place with the supposed "stained" outline of a woman, isn't it? Is it true? Has anyone explored this place?
