Are out of state plates outside an abandonment more suspicious than in state plates? Should seem obvious, but I know there is some debate

Personally, I always park far enough away so that my vehicle cannot be associated with my destination. I don't care if it's a mile hike or so. Visibly parked cars are a major clue for cops and security. Plus, it is easier to mount an escape on foot - thru back alleys and woods etc. - than it is to get back to your nearby car parked in plain sight.

Hell yes they are. I've had, and heard of, a good number of bad experiences. Try to park far off the grounds if you intend to be there for a while with out of state plates at a sensitive or semi-active location.

It depends what the place is and if its legal to park there. Some hospitals ive gone to i have parked on campus with out of state plates. But other places ive walked 2-3 miles for a good parking spot. It all depends on the type of location it is. Some hospitals allow you to be legally parked there, others do not. Some only have State Vehicles there, which in that case would not be a good spot to park even if you have in-state plates. Those are the type of places i park far from and walk to. If a place has public parking then feel free to park there are YOUR discretion.

Sometimes you can, actually.

Hiding in plain sight is occasionally the ONLY way to do things. Grab yer balls and go.

Myself along with many others have parked ON hospitals grounds IN front of the building we planned to go into.

I fully support this statement. It's saved my ass several times.

Just drive this, park in the weeds, and pull the tags. Bingo, abandoned car.

To answer the question; Yes. Out of state plates are more suspicious than in state plates unless you are near the boarder. However, I have never had a bad experience directly related to plates.

The lack of parking spots within a five mile radius of an abandoned power plant in eastern Ohio forced me to park quite close to it unfortunately. To compensate I popped the hood of my car giving the appearance that I had broken down.

Imma order me an orange light bar for my truck, then slap a magnetic fake "Demolition Survey" company logo on the doors, then park my truck right at the front door! tehehehe >=)
