My first UE post (Baton Rouge, Louisiana)

Hey everyone! I just introduced myself in the "new members" thread and said that I've been waiting for 3 days in rapt anticipation to post pictures of my first UE site (that I have taken pictures of...it's not my first explore site). I've been exploring and climbing in everything since I was a kid but I recently found out it was a hobby with a community of people who post their finds.

Please excuse my picture taking; I have a DSLR but have never been much of a photographer.

I know I'm not supposed to reveal POE and things like that but this site is nestled away in LSU's campus in Baton Rouge. The cool part is that everything around it is completely in use and full of people but this one particular poolhouse which was built in the 30's under the infamous Louisiana governor Huey P. Long has been shut off and scheduled for 'remodeling' for around 10 years.

Anyways, here are the pictures! If I'm not posting them the traditional way people do in this forum let me know. From what I've seen people post them in a list and have a number above each one...but it wouldn't let me upload any of my images with the "attach an image" button even after they were re-sized because they were all still too big...so I uploaded them with the "Quick gallery creator."

Coming into the location I was on the second floor. Below me was the pool and to the left were old racquetball courts. So this is the balcony where you could once observe racquetball games below.

2. More of the upstairs hallway/balcony

3.First shot of the actual pool/facilities

4. Outside windows leading into locker room area/ stairs that lead down to the pool

5. Notice the HUGE pit of disgusting mosquito water. ALSO notice the well kept facilities in the background (those who now the LSU area will recognize what major facility that dome is and the area to the right with the high flood lights). Hint- it has something to do with sports ;)

6. Huey P. Long Swimming Pool

7. Better view of LSU facilities in the background

8. The complex has pretty crazy architecture...being that it was made in the 30's as a WPA project it has a weird sense of Depression architecture to it but the towers look like something you would see in Florence...

9. Inside the creepy locker room. Many of the lockers still had their locks on them! (I couldn't help but wonder what things are inside! Although I'm sure it's boring things like towels and duffel bags)

10. Heading down from the locker rooms to the pool

11. (lol)

12. Finally the pool up close

Well guys I hope you enjoyed and I'm really looking forward to becoming a part of the UE community and meeting up with some explorers from around Louisiana! (Louisiana people, hit me up!!! There are so many cool buildings that were abandoned for some reason or other related to Hurricane Katrina here).

Thats a pretty sweet location, I have definitely seen some nice work come from the Louisiana area in my short time on bored here. Welcome to the site.

Edit: Also when uploading if you un-click the box saying to make thumbnails, it makes the pics alot easier to view. I think I uploaded like 4 different post before I got where I was happy with the uploads lol.

Welcome to BTR. The old pool house has been a target for quite a few. We did a live infiltration to access it and had a blast over a year ago. Coleen has a lot of details on the place with inside photos on her site. Can't think of the direct URL but google abandoned baton rouge to find it. I think she moved away last year but our group has hit some of the same places from time to time.

So some of you guys have been there before? Pretty cool!

Yeah I saw the abandonedbatonvrouge site a few weeks ago! It's pretty sweet. She said she had police access to the HPL pool though which is pretty surprising considering pretty much all my experiences with LSUPD have been negative so I wouldn't expect them to oblige anyone to something like that.

Anyways, hit me up if you ever do anything in the Baton Rouge area. I'm super down and I have a friend that goes with me too!

[23:38:31] <metawaffle> I'm surprised the NE forum doesn't fall off UER from the weight of thread locks
