Blue Mountains / Western Sydney / National Park

Hi, curbside here.

Looking to meet explorers in Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains to explore the aforementioned places, and maybe go out into the national park one day. Google Maps (satellite) reveals a couple of random clumps of buildings there that have piqued my curiosity, ie a few km SW of Lapstone/Glenbrook, 10km south of Bullaburra, etc.

I guess "Western Sydney" encompasses Lithgow to Parramatta, but it can mean whatever you want it to mean; I'm willing to meet anybody.

I used to explore the reserves around my neighbourhood, so I'm cool with nature, but having discovered the drain/UE community, I'm definitely up for some subterranean exploits.

Cheers,
curbside.

PS: I'll go and post in some other Sydney threads too.

Welcome to the forums Curbside. There are a few of us around here who are in Sydney and all of us are up for exploring, depending on what happens to take your fancy. Have you had a chance to explore Catalina park yet? Feel free to message us and when I reschedule to venice canal trip I'll send you an email with a time and date and you can meet some of us.

I'm a Belgian explorer who will be visiting Australia for the next few months. I'm in Sydney right now for about a week, and again for a week somewhere in October. If you're planning something I'll be more then happy to join in .

Since I'm bound to internet cafes for internet access, I probably won't be able to read any response to this in time. Therefor I'll leave my Australian phone nr here (I know it's not smart to share such info online, but it's a prepaid throw-away phone I exclusively use for contacts like this). Feel free to text me!

0411/390521

I'll be travelling up the east coast, so any explorers that 'operate' along the east coast, also feel free to drop me a line. Would love to hang out/explore together!

interesting.

the Penrith drain is well enough known, take a torch, go for a walk, it's a good explore and easy to do, just follow the usual 'no drains when it rains' rule and take a friend with you.

the bombshelter in the park and particularly the manhole in the street (is it actually on the road?..what about cars?) with stairs leading down to a door is very interesting as to the mine entrances...

the carrington is quite well known and the savoy, if i am right, used to have an ice skating rink underneath it...you can probably google that info yourself though.

On a old trip to the Mountains we actually ended up speaking with the owner of said rink and asked if he'd mind if we took a peak. A certain explorer was able to speak fluent Greek with him (Hat's you'd know who I'm talking about)

But alas, no go.

Seems like there's a bit to do up in ye olde mountains. Get cracking

Penrith is also known for being a dodgy area.
Not the best place to be stuck at, at 12 at night, as I was, once.
