I only do it for the instagrams

| | | Hey there. I'm new to this site, but not so much new to urban exploration. I've been looking around for the past three days, waiting to be able to finally post stuff. I thought I would start out here. I was very much into photography before I got into urbex, so now, the two just go hand in hand. I'm on vacation right now and came across a spot not too far from where I'm staying. Let me know what you guys think! 1

Canon T2i & Kit lens Usually all the shots that I take digital are to meter for Bronica. However, there are always a few that I end up liking. [last edit 6/25/2011 4:52 PM by dpearl - edited 1 times]

| | | Welcome to UER, dpearl. Some generic tips for posting photos: provide each image with a number and/or title so it's easier for us commentors to refer to our favorites. I've seen images posted larger, but for my laptop these are just about the right size. In the photo critique thread, it's nice if you provide information on your camera/lens/flash/anything else relevant (tripod, external lighting, weather or time of day). It's obvious to me from these four images that you've got experience with photography; they are all well-composed. However, perhaps because they feel so solid and well-balanced, they also aren't very dynamic. My eye moves the most in the first image, following along the line of the windows because they're angled (slightly) backward and left. There's a hint of some similar movement in the third image with that line on the ceiling, but again, not much. Your vertical lines seem straight and parallel to the frame, except perhaps in the last image, which appears to lean a little to the right. Then again, none of my photos are even remotely straight so I'm probably not the best judge... The lighting is pretty strong, too. Some of the highlights in the windows are blown out but it's not horribly distracting. Might be worth experimenting tone-mapping/HDR (do you shoot in RAW format?), but I wouldn't recommend overdoing it, as a considerable portion of folks here on UER can be very vocal in their dislike of distasteful HDR. Then again, if the quality of these shots is any indication of your typical work, I can only believe your photo posts will be warmly received. Nice work!

| | | Thank you very much. I was not expecting a response like this. I really appreciate it. I get what you're going for when you mention that they aren't that dynamic. I I actually tired tonemapping all of these but ended up only doing it a little to number 3. I don't like it that much either, but in some cases, it works. Thanks again!

| | | They all seem relatively properly exposed and well taken care of. I just don't like the content. They all need something. I just don't know what. Maybe I just don't like the location. You should post some Bronica stuff. Which one do you have?

| | | I've got an ETRs. It's relatively new, so I only have a few things with that camera. But I do have plenty of pictures from my Rollei which I'll post in addition to some Bronica stuff.
