Building Sealed

Hi Everyone, this is my first post (aside from introducing myself). I've been shooting abandoned houses for a couple of years now but hadn't really gone inside them because I was by myself 99% of the time. I've recently found another explorer but he's also new, so we're learning the ropes together, so to speak.

There's an abandoned movie theater near us that I've been wanting to get inside for a couple of years now but it says it's "sealed." I've been searching Google all morning to see what that means exactly. Does it just mean it's boarded up or is there something specific they do to "seal" a building?

Yep, there's a watermark. Get over it.

Usually, just means that it's just locked up and boarded.

But bear in mind that the first rule to exploring is "There's ALWAYS a way in"

Sometimes they will actually brick up the windows. That could either mean sealed up or it could just be boarded. Another happenstance of sealed up could be a combination of both but add security in the mix. Might I suggest a recon mission to find out more. Scout the location. I believe there is actually a thread on here giving detailed instructions on how to do recon work. Some great tips in there.

Closer than you think~ When you dig up the past, you tend to get dirty.

Thanks. That's what I was hoping they meant (boarded up), but I wasn't sure if they did something like put some kind of foam sealant on the boards as well. I've used that stuff before and it's like mortar. This place is about 45 minutes away so I'd like to minimize recon trips as much as possible and just get in!

You can also check the forum in your region and ask there. Someone else near you may know about the site and could give you some advice. Or try using the search feature to see if the place has been talked about in any forum on uer before. Best of luck!

Yes. LOL. It's supposed to be demolished, so I wondered if they would do something like that in that case. Probably a real noob question, I know.

and the second rule is knocking out the walls and windows isn't allowed, so rule one isn't always valid -_-'

I have never been to a place that it was straight impossible to get in, without breaking anything. It's not always easy... but I firmly believe that there is always a way in.

we must be talking legitimately abandoned buildings with no alarms then - not just vacant places in between ownership.

In that case I could agree with you.

OR there could always be a way in if you are including ways that set off alarms (I wasn't counting those)

What's the best way to remove boards from doors and windows? I'm entirely new to this stuff, so I have no idea at all. Would I be able to pry them loose with just a hammer?

Some people here will object to that. Me, I dont do it myself, but I'm not judging anyone who does.

I usually try to climb up to a 2nd story window(rarely are those sealed up like the ground level)

Ohh, alright. I haven't really gotten a good look of the house I'm going to yet, so it may be open in the back for all I know. Thanks anyway!
