Rusty Metal Building- Hankamer, TX or Chambers County, TX

So my husband & I were driving to TX to spend the weekend following around a band we love. On the way, I was bored. We were in the middle of nowhere, and I spotted this building. There was a ton of abandoned stuff all over "middle of nowhere, TX" (that means lots of places that we drove through, not just this place- mostly on the way home) and this spot was a little sparse, but still interesting.

I've tried to look up what the building once was, but didnt find out. Maybe you guys will know. I'm going to assume some sort of truck stop or gas station or service station from what I saw inside and outside of the building. Let me know if you know what it is.

The GPS on my phone (took a couple of shots w/ my phone as well- not included here- to GPS the location) shows this as Winnie, TX but upon further investigation, its really more like Hankamer, TX in Chambers County.

I think there used to be a bathroom or something here. There is a different type of flooring, and pipes.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.

& more outside

I've been there, when I was there, there was a VERY wigged out crackhead named Arthur chillin on a mattress who asked me if he could have my socks... I obliged and we smoked a cigarette and he told me how he used to be a factory worker.

Anyway it used to be a general store, kind of like Tractor Supply. Glad to see someone else found it!

Texas is full of such wonderful places in the middle of nowhere. Places like that are where I've done the majority of my exploring.

Love the shots of the peeling paint on the underside of the awning and the shot of the concrete pipe in front of the blue wall. Nice work!

(And I'm glad that Arthur has moved on, and that you got to keep your socks...)

Hey, PomegranateRed- do you get the feeling that you just asked to sit at the popular kids' table and they said yes, only so they could make jokes that you don't understand and watch you look confused and laugh nervously? Yeah, well, I'm sittin' right there next to you, totally confused.

Quick! Let's giggle so they think we get it!

I still don't know what the hell you people are talking about, but I know this- if there's beer and exploration involved- I'm all in.

The Texas Door is not door in the traditional sense of a door, it is more of a passageway through the blurred distinction of time and energy, with occasional rifts from the space-time continuum. It is not an object that can be perceived, rather, it is known, through the most visceral of senses and the subconscious of generations of memories before us. Nor is the door a path, or a journey that one can willingly undertake, rather, it is a distinction, a sense of temporal shifts and paradox universes where what is known, and that which cannot be known, are sometimes known.

For those that seek the door, must find the door within themselves, in order to truly find a path to the real, physical Texas Door. To those that have found the Texas Door are noble patrons of knowledge, wisdom, and transportation to alter- dimensions, often transitioning between eddies in the universal current.
