If I wanted to find blueprints of an abandonment where would I check? Also, what would a good story for why I'm looking for them be?

Is that snow or asbestos?

Local library perhaps, or a local historian would be the best starting place

If you look hard enough, there may be some in the place itself...

Actual blueprints are kept by each of the individual contractors or developers, the city only keeps a copy of the plot plan - which details utility usage and square footage of the house. Buying a copy of your blueprint is expensive and most developers will not sell them. But I know here in this lovely historic city (Philly) that sometimes they are in the archives and all you have to do is give an address. But also beware because a log is kept, ya know in case you are a terrorist and you want the blueprints for other reasons.

And jonrev is right.. sometimes they really are just in the building. I was bored one day at work and went to the basement. Sure enough...found all the blue prints sitting right on a desk.

Closer than you think~ When you dig up the past, you tend to get dirty.

I too have had luck finding blueprints inside abandonments themselves. If the building/complex has a management office or an area that served as a maintenance HQ, that would probably be the best place to look. Unless a structure is public property or particularly historically important, you're unlikely to find blueprints in a library or archive. A site plan, perhaps. But not blueprints.

It makes you wonder why so many are left in the buildings. Kind of odd that so many are found. Like an underground architect code or something.

I see two reasons

A ). It's the bloody Da Vinci Code
B ). Maintenance people need them to find stuff and have to reason to remove them when a structure is abandoned

I remember myself and another full member found blue prints, electrical scamstics, and many other plans, but that's the only time I've ever seen or found anything like that at a exploration site.

Your local police station, for post 9/11 purposes.

then you're in...women and dogs riding jet skis while eating pizza.
