This is my first time out shooting an abandonment with my new, to me, Mamiya 6. I've been struggling shooting with the wide angle lately. Something about being wide and square makes it hard for me to frame. I've also discovered that rangefinders are probably the worst cameras for architecture since it's near imposible to line up dead center. Anyway, tear me apart. If there is anything you like or especially that you dislike, let me know.

I don't have too much to say about these but
1. Its just a really contrasty scene. You can't really keep those highlights without cutting the shadows.

2. I don't like the beam up at the top. I would cut it out.

3. Not enough going on in the right side of the frame. I would just move the sink over to the right.

4 and 5 seem fine.

I was thinking about getting that camera but I figured its probably more of a photojournalism or landscape camera. Maybe you could do exteriors with it. I imagine past like 30 feet it should be pretty easy to frame. right?
What film is this?

if you added borders to all of these i think it would actually add to them.. 1 and 2 have too much clutter for me, theres something that needs to change in 3, im just not quite sure what, maybe shift to the left a bit, and/or move in, and i like 4 and 5 just as they are

These were all shot on Kodak Portra 400. I'm getting used to the spot meter so my exposures could have been better. I was too lazy to use the handheld meter. I should have known with the first two the film didn't have enough latitude. It was a pain to scan and the colors seem off. I'll try a tighter crop on the 2nd. I have a hard time with the wide and shots like the 3rd.

The camera is great other than the fact that the wide angle sticks out into the viewfinder when using the 50mm so you can't see the bottom right corner of the frame. With the 75mm it's no problem. It's fine but aligning from closer than 10-12 feet is a pain. Any closer there is distortion in the viewfinder and when mixed with it being off center focusing can be a pain.

I'll try and export them with a small boarder to see how they look. I think the 3rd is as close as I could focus. Yet another thing this camera sucks at.

3 4 and 5 are the strongest in the set i feel.

I think with 5 maybe you could try to go a little darker so the boxes don't look so washed out in the foreground. the ones in the back look better.

love the colors and grittiness 4 has. and 3 i love the composition. you could go a little darker with it if you wanted. might help the bright whiteness on the sink and some of the ground. nicely done!
