Ok, im not complaining, but instead curious. I read recently in the northeast section that one of the reasons why location posting isn't allowed is because of law enforcement frequenting these boards. Im just wondering how factual that statement is. Is there any known stories of members of this site, directly getting busted from something posted on this site. I just find it doubtful that the guy making minimum wage cares enough to lurk this site while sitting in a guard shack.

The Misandry around these parts is redonkulous. Sorry I was born with male anatomy.

Yes, repeatedly. They think it's proactive.

There are a few locations that have owners who care enough to monitor what is being said about them on the internet, and (rarely) police have tried to infiltrate various UE communities. Keeping an eye on trespassers isn't exactly high on the priority list, but it is something to be aware of. It's very unusual for someone to be prosecuted or even noticed by law enforcement for images that they post of their adventures. However, this is a public forum, so discretion is wise when you're part of a hobby that is (for the most part) inherently illegal.

In other words, the issue is not unheard of, but exceedingly rare.

The real reason we don't post locations is because when everyone finds out about a location that we really like, a few people will go and ruin the place for everyone else (stealing shit, tagging, trashing, doing something stupid to get themselves caught...)

Stuff like that isn't common though, at all.

Somewhat related... I just learned that some guys in the state Dep't of Mines been watching my message board posts. Any abandoned mine I talk about exploring gets bumped up on their list of mines to be gated.

There are a dozen reasons to keep locations hushed.
As with all crimes, you're most likely to get caught if you run your mouth. Don't do that - you can share your stories if you want, but never specifics.

There are plenty of cops and security officers on here as full members, obviously. If you think otherwise, you are kidding yourself.

There are some places that cops aren't aware we use as our playgrounds, or aren't aware of the frequency of our actions, some places that are exceptionally hard to get to, that the gaps could be closed ... the more you bring attention to it, the more they become aware.

I've never been to Hudson (oooooh namedrop, but it's not like it's one of the most whored out locations and has 30,000 hits on an exact full name google search) but I've seen enough pictures to recognize the place from interiors alone and anyone can recognize it from the exteriors. Many locations are like this and it only helps people who are totally clueless or haven't even looked around enough online to pin down the exact location.

If someone posts a location and you have absolutely no idea where the hell it is, it's probably better off that way, for everyone. Send a PM, do your research, there's nothing wrong with being low key when it's appropriate with your locations, don't be a tool and tell people who have earned their stripes that someplace is trashed or inaccessible when it's awesome and not.

Compaq, I can't recall the last time you posted anything noteworthy that wasn't a troll post but perhaps the attitudes you share online are the reasons people are not willing to readily disperse hand outs.

When I talk about locations, I often use vague names that people "in the know" would recognize and others wouldn't. "Pit of death building", "battery factory", "whored out apartment block", etc - it's a way to talk about stuff without it showing up on Google or being completely obvious to police/security.

That story about the Round House is hilarious and kinda scary. I also wonder what came of that.. somebody should look up the records from that area.

I wasn't asking for handouts lol. I just noticed the attitude atleast in the NE section. I was just curious about it. When i first came here years ago i made that mistake. But i have found plenty of awesome locations by myself here and in schenectady. I'll admit ive been here so long that i do enjoy ripping on people. When the water level goes down i do plan on taking some pictures of a irish saw mill that i was going ot do last fall, but it snowed. In another week the place wont be under a foot of water. It's just dangerious right now because theres moss bogs and stuff and if you fall in one of those you probably wont be coming back out.

we've had police show up on our 'uer publicly-viewable' invites. They're here. I don't know the frequency, or depth of their research/followup, but they're here. Don't try and suggest to me otherwise.

If you want to protect the locations you love to explore, don't talk about them online in public!
If you want to make exploring friends, send people private messages! Meet up in real life! Get off the internet!
Don't try to have a UER e-penis! You won't impress anyone! This especially means you, Minneapolis MN newbies!
