| | Hello from UK (some of what I have) < on 4/27/2011 8:39 PM >
| | | Hello I have been exploring a while but have only just decided to join up here, as photography is the main area I am interested in, and as the photography on this site is some ridiculous (good) I think this is where I will spend most of my time I am always looking for critique so could you do your worst(/best) and tell me what you think
Kip Chimney D70, iso 400, f 5.6, 1/125 at 18mm
A Manchester Rooftop Cosina C1 with a 50mm lens (i think), jammed open shot using provia I think it was 50iso but am not sure now
Newport Bridge D70, iso 200, f 5, 20 seconds at 18mm
Spillers Mill RB67, think it was about f22, and I don't remember the shutter speed, film i think is some out of date fujicolor 160s (shot at 100iso)
Springfield Asylum RB67, around f22, the exposure was into the minutes but I can't recall how many, shot of my favourite, ilford pan f
Tunstal Court RB67, again around f22, again a long exposure I think this was around 10 or 20 minutes, and again on ilford pan f

| | | Not the best photographer but I'll take a stab... #1 is one of those documentary shots, still like it though...How high up were you? #2 neat subject, looks like a cool vantage point, crappy scan maybe?? #3 is the bees-knees...reminds me of Batman, love it #4 is kind-of a boring subject (IMPO) composed well, love the tone #5 dig it kinda creepy #6 2nd favorite out of the bunch no complaints Welcome to UER yo' Also post more! | | | The bridge shot was exciting! Upon mouseover, my reaction was drawing my head back from the screen and letting out a sharp "wow" under my breath. That being said, use the gallery creator to upload pictures, and make sure you uncheck the "create pop-up images" button. It's inconvenient to have to mouseover the shot to see it and thus critique it. The asylum shot is a little on the plain side in subject and comp, but the b&w adds a horror layer to it. Is that splatter on the door blood? Could be, because of the b&w. Nice choice on that. Court is masterfully done, and I say that because the only thing I find wrong with it is that I can't see more of the room. I want to be there and explore it, and I think that's the effect a good exploring photo should have. So bravo. [last edit 4/28/2011 6:58 AM by Eschaton - edited 1 times]

| | | This small set is head and shoulders above what I normally see on here. I think. Maybe I'm just partial because I love bridges and that shot of the Newport Bridge blew my dick off. As for critiques? The most pressing thing is popout gallery bad -- embedded images good. http://www.uer.ca/...d=1&threadid=60002 That said, the first shot gets me hard because of the sense of height, but leaves me hanging in most technical aspects. Springfield Asylum is great, but could have been even better if your camera was centered in the hallway so that the lines in the tiles were straight. Another approach would be to have the camera all the way to the opposite wall of the door to create leading lines in the ceiling and floor and make the door a distinct subject with the end of the hallway a distinct vanishing point. Architectural straights are key! The court picture is also really awesome but looses a little in being crooked. Keep it up, and post more (or a link to more?) because I really enjoyed these.

| | | That bridge shot really is great. I also raised my eyebrows at the first one, when my brain figured out what what it was.
