It looks like somebody pissed on the top of the picture and it dripped down. Whats that supposed to be?

I would suggest not going back to this location. I was there earlier and there were cops everywhere.

Blah Blah Blah. Shut up and open the damn door.
"It's ok Officer, I watch a lot of cop shows on tv, so i am practically one of you guys." - sadly, that didn't work.

so what were you saying out of curiosity?

That digitally-layered images are (mostly) contrived. And I do think that's a valid criticism, especially in this case.

i feel the photo itself without the processing has too much ceiling in it, next time i would get closer to the subject and make that more prevalent and larger in the frame. as far as the post processing, it does not appeal to me personally, it saps up the contrast of the photo. it feels like a photo where a texture was laid on top, whereas when seeing this type of processing, i prefer the photo and texture to work as one whole and blend together nicely. it may help you to consult flickr and see how others use texture when processing for this effect. however it is a good first try.

good?

yeah this one time in a local nigh school class for adults.....and then i got a bachelors degree in visual arts.

ok thank you for answering that. I appreciate the honesty and again, whenever you want to give me some feedback shoot away

Post by kevinblahhstart over.

digital or film, this picture looks like garbage, I dont know if youre going for something artistic with the overlay here, but I feel stupid looking at this picture trying to critique it.

Yes artistic is what I was going for. It's meant to look like a degraded image that has water damage to it, and has now become muddied from the long term abuse and neglect.

I can totally see now how that would make someone like you "feel stupid looking at this picture trying to critique it" because that right there makes a lot of sense. what does that even mean? you do understand that this was my first attempt at layering correct? and I think I nailed what I described above^^^ pretty well, just saying.

thanks for trying I guess? I'll try to make my images smarter in the future for you. Maybe I'll add some mathematical equation in the image somewhere.

Post by Played It looks like somebody pissed on the top of the picture and it dripped down. Whats that supposed to be?

that's exactly what it is supposed to be. a degraded image. I purposely chose the iconic religious figures for a reason. It's meant to emphasize the degrading of some religions, to some degree, as well as the moral decay of our society in my mind.

Not so much piss but water damage, but if it were an image you came across on the floor one could presume animals might have pissed on it.

to each his own. though just to point out to you, you were not very clear at all in your first post. for me personally it helps if you're more direct with your comments as you did here. Thanks

k so I actually did get a BA in psychology with a minor in art and concentration in art therapy, and am currently in a graduate art therapy program. so I'm not a "faux art college kid". secondly I actually do dig retro looks and I'm not the only one.

so thanks for A: for wasting space in this thread B: being incorrect in your assumption of what actual schooling I have C: being not culturally minded or respectful for other peoples interests in other art forms such as retro post processing with this shit coming out of your mouth. That's meant for another orifice I'm assuming you have, just to let you know.

So I feel like I have nothing better than to say thanks for playing to you also, and that whole ass/mouth thing I'd recommend getting checked out ASAP because I don't think that's healthy or normal at all.

and this was fantastic!!! thank you! i appreciate it, and maybe I can edit it to remove some of the ceiling, or maybe go back, and make sure no cops are around as someone mentioned and try to re-shoot them closer. I'll also attempt in the next ones I try to blend better to make them look like one image as opposed to a texture over an image as you suggested.

and thanks for the first try part
