| | Ghosts of old iron < on 4/19/2011 10:52 PM >
| | | Something a little different. I came across this in the fall of 2010. I originally wasn't going to post it here, but I figure there's enough people like me who love this old junk. This "collection" has been gathering for decades in a small town outside of Tulsa. The absence of salt is one of the perks of living in the south as our old cars die get to die a natural death. In case you're wondering, none of these are for sale, at least anytime in the near to mid future. Hopefully, someday I'll get my rat rod from here.

If I could say it in words, I wouldn't need to photograph.

| | | Nice stuff. Why aren't they for sale? Are the owner/s using them for parts or restoring them? The Cadillac is sweet! V12 maybe? #8 that sure looks like the ZZ Top car but I think that was a 37 Ford coupe.
I came across a bone yard in Endee NM on old Route 66 that was chock full of these old cars and trucks. I mentioned to the owners that they had a lot of nice old cars that they could make a lot of money selling them, one guy said they wanted to keep them for sentimental reasons. Seems a shame to let them just rot.

| | | The old man who owned them never sold anything that I could tell, though I know of several people who tried. They did some restoration on a few, but it seems for their own enjoyment, as they never sold those either. I had hoped that some would come up for sale after the first of the year as there were rumours of an auction, but so far, nothing has been announced.

| | | Man, those are awesome and oh so nice!!! I love those cars, it's a shame that they're just letting them sit there instead of getting restored. Thanks for sharing and great pics!!!

| | | These are way cool. And the "old man" was cool with you walking around snapping pics? Any way to get location details? (only interested photographically)

| | | everything has it's price. The biggest issue today is so many people are speculator jerks. Watch a show like american pickers. I can't stand those two, but I still watch it because I like to see all the old stuff Alot of the people owning these vast stores of old vehicles, gas station signs, etc etc might appear stupid and half blind from moonshine on the surface, but it's generally a act.. They are smarter then you, and driving around in a mercedes benz trying to get everything for $1 isn't going to help any...
