We were in a pretty dilapidated steam factory and it took the paramedics a bit of trouble to find her and get her out. As far a I know there was no real permanent damage but it did take her several months to recover. It was truly one of the worst exploring trips, as a group, we have ever had. Being in another city made it that much worse. Making that phone call to her parents was not something I ever want to do again either.

Let me know some updates if you talk to her... that is such a serious thing I'm curious as to how she's doing.

Also, I didn't mean to post this thread in the Rookie forum. Should it be moved to Main?

This happened several years ago and the topic is fine here in this forum. It does alert new explorers just how dangerous things can get and to never be too confident.

Damn! That would suck.

I've had a few close calls here and there, but two weeks ago, I went completely through a floor. Scared the shit out of me.

The floor, thankfully was only above crawl space and I knew it was super-iffy to begin with, so I was sort of expecting to put a foot through.

There was a wing in the east part of this old school and the only way into it, was through a hallway that the floor was in really bad shape. I put down some crown molding pieces I found and made my way across it.

Got across with no problems. Moved into one of the rear classrooms and bam.. my left foot goes through. I quickly jump up to free my leg and try to get to another more sturdy spot. The very next thing I know, I'm laying on the ground. The entire section of floor crumbled in on itself when I jumped up. Cut my arm and legs a bit especially as I tried to protect my camera I was holding in my hand(camera was a-ok! btw.). It sort of knocked the wind out of me, and the entire place became one big toxic cloud (I wasn't wearing my aparatus either) so I tried to hold my breath as I crawled back onto the remaining floor and out of the room.

It was a good eye opener for sure and certainly a reminder to always be vigilant about your footing!

Hi, I'm new.

I have had stairs crumble, break, and fall down as I stepped on them. And I once had my foot go right through a soft floor on maybe the 4th story of a building
