| | 1000 Arabian Nights < on 4/13/2011 5:31 AM >
| | | birdman and unregistered explore this arabian shriners temple (freemasons) in houston. deff going back cuz its huge and has so much more. but as we entered we noticed fresh dip and drinks. i think someone was hiding from us. this isnt the historic galveston/houston el mina temple but its still a pretty cool one. built around 1970-71. the chandelier that was in the center of the ballroom (which was also a roller derby rink) was salvaged from the rice hotel...whereabouts now? Any master masons or higher wanna fill in the details.... Main Meeting Room?
main halls with tons of small empty closets?
outdoor mural?
the ritual rooms (red and blue) are there more? i wanna say yellow and green?
and the last part we got to before we hard a loouuudddd band noise that sounded like someone hitting the pipes in the hall we were just in... the theater (sorry for the bad pics...crappy POS with flash. but this sucker wasss hhuugggeeeee) ladder that led to the upper catwalks/3rd 4th floor?
and this was my last shot b4 we hauled out of there. well be going back soon =] this place was set for auction for furniture and such. but is to be demo'd who knows when. we were only in there for like 20 mins and we barely got anything... thanx to anti- paradigm for the tips. also note...HEAVY car traffic becuase of all the apartments.

| | | They all leave during the daytime... The main stage is really cool with the natural light coming in... I told you the place was friggin huge! Me and Down with the Clown spent several hours in there before we found the stairs and the upper floor. Did you go up on the catwalks? That was one of the coolest parts... Roof access is back there too. Aparently from what I have read and found in paperwork within the building, they could not afford the taxes on the place, being that it is like, 140,000 square feet, and on a huge chunk of land in the middle of the city... | | | HA, the horse is still in that same spot, lol We went I think in September or October. Was there still a set up in the entrance? There were flowers and other stuff. Someone def made themselves a little set up there. I should post some pics as well. It is a pretty big place. Took us awhile to check everything out. At Mrs. Fatwax, wow, I can't believe someone threw something, that's crazy! Hope you were okay. But yea, you should check out the second floor. Some cool interesting stuff up there. Beware if you're afraid of clowns if you make it to the second floor, lol There's some painted on some walls.

I thought the place was closed due to asbestos. we found a lot of hazardous asbestos warnings all over the upper floor. it even looked like a part of the building was taped off at one point. anyway did either of you see the room with all of the circus programs and old photos? some of the photo's where very strange and a little creepy.

yeah there where vest's all over the place. I liked the old panorama pics for the 20's and 30's. some of the pic's where real strange. if you look at the first it looks like a crossdressing party and the second one it looks like the photos where "doctored". There where a bunch that just seemed strange.

since freemasonry is a male organization (though some sects include women.) theyd have these crossdressing plays for fun. Source: research and tv lol
