| | | Wow, can't believe I haven't seen this thread before! That's some crazy ass stuff Captain_Slow. Thank goodness you made it out there in one piece. No telling what would have happened if you didn't haul-ass out of there... I don't suppose you've gone back there with others since April?

I haven't been back yet, actually. There have been many plans with many people but they all fall through. I know the building is vacant though, the cops swung through it regularly for a while. I want to go back SO bad, but I can't bring myself to go alone.

| | | Posted by Raticus Ok, time for Daddy Raticus' lecture of the day. LOL It has gotten to the point where I almost never go alone anymore. I used to think nothing of it, but with the super fast rise of crack/meth labs, drug problems, etc., I just hardly ever do that anymore. Even in the rural area where I am, it's pretty bad. I still explore a few things by myself, or with my son, but places like old hospitals, apartments, nursing homes, places that were made for housing people, seem to have higher chances of running into situations like that. I have never had an encounter like what you describe here, and I don't ever want to. I am glad you got out of there. Those situations can be very dangerous, and it sounds like this one had the potential to be really serious. I don't mean to sound like I'm "parenting" here, and I don't mean to sound paranoid. You guys/gals are all adults. But things are different than they were even 4 years ago. Don't underestimate situations like this. I don't know if it has to do with the economy being so bad, or a lot of people migrating to this region from other places, the huge explosion in drug manufacturing, I don't know. Probably a little of all those. I actually think running into drug manufacturers is worse than drug users. I don't know if that's what this was, but it could have been. But either way, everyone please be careful. The last thing I want to see is one of us getting hurt or killed. Go with a buddy, or 5. Yeah, groups can create noise and draw attention, and there is still no guarantee of safety. But as long as you stay together and not separate in a location, there is strength in numbers.
